I have been lurking aroudn this fourm and other sites for a few weeks now.  My wife and i have decided to repalce our 14 year old mattress and i was unsure wich direction to go in.  Originally we wer egoing to go with a spring mattress as it's what we knew.  After reading a lot of reviews from various sites  I went out the other day and tried out some really nice ones from Rosedale-simmons, kingsdown, icomfort and tempurpedic.  I came home and of course googled the mattresses and everyone said the same thing about the spring brands.  They start out great, but in a year the pillow top is gone and your stuck with a uncomfortable mattress.  THe Icomfort seemed to start off well, but i saw a lot of people who said that it wore down fast and the y eere left with dips and a uneven bed.

Which left the TP bed as the one to go with.  In the store i was really drawn to the cloud luxe, i  laid on it for a while and really liked how soft it was.  I also tried the grandbed, which was nice but priced really high and the allure bed which i felt was harder then the could lux by far. Thank god for this site, i was sold on the cloud lux, but thanks to people here i saw that it would wear down fast based on our weight, we both weigh over 200.    It seems the Tempur HD would last longer as it had the thicker foam and would offer more support.  Based on my instore test i am leaning towards a CA-king grandbed with a non tp brand adjustable base.  Although i will try the the Rhapsody and allure out one more time to see if i like them.

However, i can't seem to find any detailed reviews on them other then the ones at the TP site, which i think would be biest.  Does anyone have a review to offer or know of a site that has a lot of them besides the TP site.  I also wanted to know what people thought about split beds, is it worth the extra $$$, is it really noticable when you roll around over the split and is it a pain to buy sheets for?  Or would you just reccomend getting the CA-king with no split?

If you read this forum for awhile, you'll see some discussion about split beds. There seems to be consensus that it is good for accommodating different sleep proferences. There also seems to be a consensus (with some slight disagreements) that the split down the middle is noticeable. The solution some have found is to put a unifying single foam topper over the entire top layer, which seems to minimize the discomfort coming from the split down the middle.

Yeah, i thought about just putting a topper over the middle, but then you could never have each side be adjustable on its own, you can only adjust the bed as a whole.  You wold notice the difference then, just like with sheets.  I assume you would have to buy different sheets for each side.  I never thought about mixing a TP bed, seems  like a interetsing idea thou.
