I want to know are the iron rails that tempurpedic has on their web site necessary for putting the tempurpedic mattress and foundation on them or will my iron rails work with the tempurpedic bed, I have settled on queen size Rhapsody and accompnying foundation: My Iron rails: I have these hook on iron rails that are hooked into my headboard and footboard slots. Right now I have a Spring mattress on them. But my head board and footboard appear to be swaying a little. And when I move while turning in my spring mattress, the whole bed creaks. What could be causing this creaking noise? Also my Iron rails can support 600lbs of total weight. Construction of my Iron rails: My Iron rails are 2 side rails and 2 hoizontal rails inbetween those 2 side rails. And in between those 2 horizontal rails I have a vertical rail. But the vertical rail does not extend all the way to headboard or footboard on either side. Will this work with the tempurpedic bed? Thanks This message was modified Jul 21, 2010 by roy1

Would be best if you could provide a photo of both. But if I understand it correctly, no, it won't work well with a Tempurpedic or any foam mattress because with those you need a solid foundation. Basically with a spring mattress you have a box springs and that's all you need - you don't even need a frame to put it on. We have our box spring right on the floor. I don't like rail type foundations because they tend to give too much bounce and do sometimes make noise. Sometimes that noise can be fixed by spraying WD-40 at every joint. The noise comes from the joints of the metal I do believe. With a foam mattress you need slats that go the whole length and width and like every 6" or so, I'd say, 4" in between might be better... I'm just estimating. I found that with my spring mattress, putting it on the floor without a box springs makes it too firm. I like the box springs better; ours is the type that has a thick guage steel type support that gives it a bit of "spring" action but it's not so bouncy as steel rails would make it because it's on the floor. |
