Spoke to the distributor yesterday that ships out their latex toppers. They ship both talalay and dunlop, and what you get depends on what they have in stock. the ilds seem to vary as well. I made the strong suggestion that they straighten this out and offer a consistent product. Don't know if they will do that. She did say that one could enclose a note requesting one type or another, but that they could not guarantee that they could ship that product. |
So I guess what is "staightened out" is that there is no straightening things out when it comes to OS. I used to really like them, now I am very hesitant to buy from them, after they sold FAKE "Venus" foam to everyone and even after admitting it is fake Venus foam, they still sell it and describe it as Venus. I guess the one good thing is that if you buy the latex and it is Dunlop instead of Talalay you can return it. I can't imagine a Dunlop topper being soft enough for a topper. Dunlop just doesn't have much give to it in my experience. It's more like the rubber you use for a doormat. Good for a FIRM base, but not a topper. But hey, everyone's different. This is just my opinion based on my experience. |
royalpedic uses dunlop in their pillowtops. low ild though. I imagine it is soft enough if aerated like that.
as for os, the only way to order is to call the supplier, ask if they have imported talalay in stock and tell them you are about to place an order specifying that type and to nullify the order if they can not supply it. otherwise you will not know what you are getting This message was modified Jul 5, 2010 by olenska

To which one might add, email OS first and ask them to confirm it's talalay latex, so if despite all your other precautions they still send the wrong thing, you will be a position to ask them to pay for the return. If you talk to a phone rep, ask them to send you an email confirming what they have told you.
OS seems to never correct any misinformation, so it is highly likely they will go on telling people its talalay even after the actual supplier has said it is not.
I don't really have much hope that calling Jeffco to find out what is in stock will assure that you get it, so if you are going to have to return it, the more grounds to ask OS to pay shipping the better.

Does anyone know who the supplier was of these latex mattress toppers BEFORE Jeffco? I managed to get out of OS rep that before 2010, maybe 2009, they had a different supplier, but he couldn't find out name at this late date. my girlfriend got her mattress topper before they changed and hers is much softer and less bouncy than the Jeffco feels in the pure latex talalay which i just received. it also has a not so slight rubbery smell that hasn't left in about two weeks since we have it. |
