What would an ILD be for a spring mattress?
I don't know if this is comparing apples to oranges or even if its possible, but what would an ILD be for a typical spring mattress? |
Re: What would an ILD be for a spring mattress?
Yeah it was sort of a dumb question, I was more trying to figure out if there are similarities between what a firm latex and a firm spring mattress would feel like. Would they feel roughly the same for firmness or would the latex feel a touch firmer or softer. |
Re: What would an ILD be for a spring mattress?
I think it is hard to estimate. Also, it will vary widely depending on the coil system, number of coils, and the gauge of the coils. My perception is that the upper end Sealy springs are firmer than XF (36 ILD) talalay latex from Flobeds. I did not try their super firm, but I would say that the Sealy coils by themselves are probably closer to that. So, over 40 on an ILD scale for talalay. |

Thanks....I figured there are so many variables it would be hard to tell, but I thought if a few people chimed in with their observations then I might be able to get a better idea.
Thanks, Ser :) |
