I want to find a good platform bed. From where should I buy one. And what bed/model should I buy. Thank you.

I think some people here were not happy with that style of foundation because of its large openings and limited bearing surfaces leading to poor support.

Yes, budgy, for one, advised against my question about a similar product.

I have read those concerns and agree they are valid.

Guess I should have mentioned that I am not planning to put my PU/latex hybrid directly on those wires. No way! For sure the mattress would sag into those gaps some and would probably damage the mattress cover and base foam inside to a certain extent.

Instead, I am putting a 1" layer of 50 ILD extra firm Lux Foam Skin ($17) between the platform frame and the mattress. Then I plan to keep an eye on things to see if it's really doing what I want it to do. If I think the skin is not adequate and the mattress itself is still sagging into the gaps, I may replace the 1" skin with 1/8" x 4' x 8' hardboard from Lowe's, either the plain ($7) or the pegboard ($10) style. With a King I'll need two to cover the whole platform and will have to trim both pieces some. (Probably should have gone with the hardboard in the first place, but I liked the idea of keeping things a little softer if possible. Plus the foam skin will be all one piece.)

Why not? I'm curious, since I haven't unboxed mine and set it up yet.

I used to have a waterbed and used a mattress in it for a long time rather than buying a boxspring.  That would be one sort of platform bed. I'd think that you could pretty much use a piece of plywood with a little edge on it for a platform.  I've heard of egg crates(the plastic kind that egg cartons are shipped in)being used to hold the wood up off the floor.

Foundations are merely the support for the mattress, and can be pretty much whatever you want them to be.  They can be stupidly expensive for no good reason.  I know that if you get a box spring with actual springs in it, it will be much softer and somewhat less suportive under your mattress(but can feel sooo good, if that is the feel you desire).  We have one like that;   I firmed it up under my hips with a piece of firm plastic on top so it doesn't sink.
