Which is better quality?

Hi all,

Since my husband does not like the feel of Tempurpedic, we've decided to go firm firm mattress with a good latex topper. (Maybe like 1" memory foam b/t the mattress & latex topper if needed)

I believe we have narrowed our search to the following:

1.) Stearns and Foster "Foxbridge" Luxury Firm (Mattress Firm will price match for $1,799 for the King set) http://www.mattressfirm.com/Stearns-and-Foster-Foxbridge-Firm-P94.aspx

2.) The Simmons Beautyrest World Class extra firm (30 day return also for $1,799)

They feel quite similar in person, both very firm, little to no bounce. They also have similar coil count, foam, etc...

Any thoughts on long term durability b/t the two (NO SAGGING)? Stearns and Foster vs. Simmons Beautyrest World Class? Or are they both junk that will sag?

THANKS!!!

I agree with Budgy that getting a mattress with less pu foam is key. You can find out which has less by looking at the label on the end, usually positioned at the head against the wall because they don't want you looking at it! wink

The debate between S&F and Simmons is one that there is no "right" answer to. Personally I now prefer the Simmons (though I have not slept on either Simmons or S&F - just studied them a bit), because the way I see it they have more wire in their springs and more springs per square foot (density). S&F tries to push the idea that their "intellicoil" is really 2 springs because it is wrapped in such a way that it has a firmer base and a lighter top - it actually is kind of like 2 springs in one. However, as I see it the spring density is still less than the better Simmons models and the bottom line is that the Simmons has more poundage of wire in it, thus, in my view, more conforming support.

So I would find a Simmons you like that has the least amount of pu foam in it. Again, the LABEL - the one that says DO NOT REMOVE attached to the end of the mattress - tells the tale.

We liked the Simmons mattresses better. Also, you may want to look at the classic series as was stated. They give you the best bang for your buck for coiled sleeping systems.

Just my opinion
