I am going through the agony of finding the right bed for my wife and I. We just couldn't take our soft S&F any longer and purchased a Simmons world class

Firm Pillow top...Cape is the name I think...... It's sagging in less than a month and my wife is having issues with pressure points.....This bed is too hard for her and good for me except the nice whole I am in already....My question.

I went to the store a laid on a Tepurpedic for about a hour. Its the pillow top Celeberty......I like it. Seems to be supportive yet soft....My wife liked it as well, but........

She thinks we should buy and likes the newer softside waterbeds with the zipper tops to remove and replace top inserts with foam or latex......

Why don't more people buy these? It seems nice and for $2000 you can buy a dual core king bed with all the goodies.......I like the Tempur, but it will cost us about $2600 more with the Simmons comfort exchange......Any help or opinions out there?????

I purchased the Tempurpedic Celeberty  and have slept on it for 4 nights.
Love it so far......I am sleeping better than ever.....81% of the people who buy this like it.   Not bad numbers if you ask me.
I have 90 days on it to hate it..... If so......Water bed will be the next purchase.

I can tell you about tempur- yes we have had our king bed replaced 3 times-yes, they honor their warranty all right, but the de-gassing or off-gassing on the replaceement can kill you getting to the point where it does not emit choking fumes. I don't know how much you both weigh and if you sleep on your side, but they simply have not been holding up for us. A month off-gassing and then in 6 week the thing collapsed to where we could make a claim. But we are heavy and live in a rain forrest in Hawaii. They do honor thier warranty--but I think that Birgada or one of the other made in the USA knock-offs would probably be as good. Now we have gone latex, which is a bit like sleeping on jello, supportive, bouncy--and it does not smell!!! We will see how long it holds up.

Tempurpedic is so costly simply because their return rate is over 20%. That's unheard of in this industry. Personally I think a latex mattress, 6" core + 2" soft topper and zippered quilted cover is the best way to go. The cover is the same that were put on the original soft sided waterbeds back in the 70's. I know this to be true because I worked in the factory in California that originated the first dual chambered (his and her) soft sided waterbed. In fact it was my idea to do this because my wife was pregnant with our first child and I would disturb her every time I rolled over. Splitting the water mattress into two halves and running a foam separater up the middle solved that problem and the "split king" was born. It became our biggest seller. Now that latex is back, it truly the best way to go.
