Restless Leg Syndrome and choosing a mattress, bonus question about the longevity of latex

Okay, I've been doing TONS of research and I think I'm only getting more confused.  I purchased my Simmons ultraplush-super-duper-soft worldclass mattress 7.5 years ago.  It was a love affair for the first 4 years.  I was obsessed with going to bed.  But the honeymoon ended with a thud.

After about 3 years, I developed Restless Leg Syndrome (at least that's what we "think" it is) and some other neurological symptoms.  I eventually could not sleep more than 2 hours/night.  I wake up after 2 hours with my legs feeling very warm and feeling like I just can't lay still.  I might be able to fall asleep again after 3-4 hours of this.  Aside from that I started having nerve tingling in my legs.  I take Gabapentin at bedtime which lets me get 7 hours of sleep on most nights.   Now I'm not saying these are related to my mattress, but I simply don't know and that's driving me nuts.  I'd love to rule it out as a factor somehow.

What I'd like to know is how do I find out if there is any research out there related to neurpathy, RLS and mattress materials.  I have two questions.  1.  Could my problem have anything to do with chemicals in the bed (fire retardants, foams, etc...)  and 2. Could it be caused by the way the bed sleeps in general?   I'm not an organics freak...there is a plethora of naturally occuring things that are plenty bad for you.  I do like to be environmentally conscious.

If you have any info or experience with this, I would love to hear it.  Please do post your sources or how to gained your insight.

I'm leaning towards latex, but I'm getting mixed answers regarding the longevity of latex.  I think I'm planning to purchase a 100% natural talay latex bed (but may consider using a 3" dunlop core layer).  I'm being told that 100% latex will last about 15 years and a blend will last longer.  But others have told me that they will last much much longer.  What's the truth?
