Okay, I apologize for this many posts but I am very anxiuos to ask. So pardon me please. If you want to return the latex bed layers and even the foundation too - how do you package them and how does the shipper take them back? I mean it would be hard to roll those latex layers and package them back and the foundation woul dalso be exteremely hard to package and taking all this to the shipper would require a truck would it not? Thanks for everything. |
well, I havent had to do this yet, but I suspect it may not be as difficult as you think, depending on where you bought from and what style and size you bought. Plus how much of it you are sending back. I will probably have to return a layer soon. My understanding is that you get a bag to put it in and compress by letting air out. That said, I took the soft layer off mine, wrapped it in the plastic it came in and it fit perfectly in the shipping box it came in. I also saved the boxes that the foundation came in, just in case. It would be simple to just put them back in and tape them back up. I kept all the packaging, just in case. I'm pretty strong (for a girl) and would not have much trouble hauling the boxes to a shipping facility near me, though it would probably take 2 or 3 trips to get it all there. A simpler way would be that the company you bought from to arrange for the shipper to come to you. |
I have made 2 returns to Flobeds. It wasn't a breeze, but not a horrible process either. It does require 2 people if you want to vacuum package it, which is best to keep shipping costs down by using as small a box as possible. As Flobeds comes vacuum packed, you need to do that in order to reuse their shipping materials. I don't know if other companies ship their latex vacuum packed. |
Most people ship the latex vacuum packed. When you open it, open it carefully, don't make any holes in the plastic it comes in so that you can re-seal and vacuum pack. It was so long ago I don't remember exactly how we returned to Flobeds but it wasn't a major problem. As I recall, they send a truck to pick it all up, but don't quote me on that. Best way to go is call Flobeds and ask. Don't make it sound like you PLAN to return it, but on the other hand they know that some people to make returns so it's okay to talk to them about it. Also by talking with them they can give you a better idea about what you should try to get. Same with SleepEZ, though I am not sure what SleepEZ's policy on returns is nowadays. Be sure to check the site you buy from and carefully read their return policy. All I know is for sure, Flobeds was easy to return to in terms of their accepting the return. |
Here is a link to FloBeds instructions (with pictures) on sending layers back. LINK Hubby and I had no problems at all. You can even call UPS and for a small fee they'll pick up the boxes at your home. |
I have returned two latex layers to Flobeds: once when they accidentally sent the wrong size topper, and once for a layer exchange. The process was very easy, and contrary to what one person said here, it can be easily managed by one person. With Flobeds, each layer of latex comes individually packaged in two large plastic bags, and inner bag and an outer bag. To package a layer to return it, you: 1. Fold the latex layer into thirds, like you would fold a sheet of paper. 2. Place the latex layer into a very large plastic bag. 3. Insert the TIP of a vacuum nozzle into the bag, wrap the plastic around the vacuum hose, and turn it on, letting the vacuum suck all of the air out of the plastic bag and out from the latex. The latex compresses very rapidly. 4. Carefully holding the bag, withdraw the vacuum nozzle, then tape the bag shut. All of the air will be extracted and the bag and latex inside will be shrunken. 5. Place this bag into the second bag, and tape it shut. 6. Put the bag of compressed latex in a box, seal it and mail it. All of this sounds a lot more complicated than it is, it takes about 5 minutes and is very easy to do. A layer of latex in a box will weigh around 20 pounds, not light but not too heavy to lift and carry. I would not let the prospect of exchanging layers deter you. |
Also, I would not buy a foundation from an internet company. I would just buy a firm foundation from your local mattress shop. I talked to Sean at Sleepez about this and he agreed that it didn't really make sense to buy the foundation on the internet. |
