What can anyone tell me about Aireloom 640 handsewn mattress. Joma wool, pure silk & 40 lbs. of long staple cotton. All inner tufted by hand for stability.

Rip Van Wrinkle the original 1947 design. The claim: Nancy Reagan insisted on Aireloom for the White House.

Hand tied coil system. Is this just clever advertising?

Thanks

This mattress seems somewhat high to me as originally priced (per Leo3's link). The sale price seems a bit high but in the ballpark for this type of mattress. Question is how long will the sale last? There shipping charges are hard to beat however.

Here is what appears to me to be an excellent old-fashioned (McRoskey has been in business for over 100 years in the San Francisco area) two-sided handmade innerspring mattress. They're expensive. But evidently have a reputation for building excellent mattresses that most of their customers love. Here is the website. And I would advise you to watch the movie as it gives you a very good idea of how they built their mattresses. This website also has all of their pricing and other information.

If you want an excellent all natural latex mattress I prefer FloBeds. They not only make excellent latex mattresses but have air beds and water beds as well.

There are many excellent mattress manufacturers in this country. The problem is picking the right one for your comfort, pricing, and shipping. In the case of a mattress like the McRoskey box springs plus innerspring mattresses the cost for shipping to mid USA is, some where between $400 and $600. Shipping to the east cost is probeably not much more I would guess. Locally in the San Francisco Bay Area they charge $95.

Thanks for your input. This new store is about a 2 mile drive from our house. I think I will check it out tomorrow.
