When I began my search for the right All-Natural (actually meaning non-synthetic, 97-98% natural latex) Latex Mattress, Rocky Mountain Mattress Company of Utah looked like it was going to be the place I would buy it, because I was enamored by the great price.

This may be an excellent natural latex mattress for a person that is not concerned about the environmental and health impacts of their purchase, but BEWARE if you are looking for a truly Natural Product, as this one is NOT (though I can't say for the other Natural Latex Mattresses in their Green Line that are more expensive) completely.  The mattress is sprayed with a "synthetic rayon/poly substance" to meet the legal fire retardancy standards.  And it took me a long time to find this out as the sales representative I spoke to on the phone ("Dave") who was very nice and not at all pushy, and a partner of his that subbed for him when he was out of town, to get me this information.  The representatives of this company are unfortunately uninformed about the products they sell to the point of lying to me at one point, stating "I'm not sure about what exactly the substance is that is used to meet the flame retardancy standards, but I can assure it is a natural substance."  Rayon, for one, is not a natural substance.  It took them quite awhile to uncover the truth about the substance used, they had to "call down to the factory to find out and ended up leaving a message with them and getting back to me several days later.

If you are in the market for a TRULY healthy organic mattress, and no a budget, unfortunately, this is not it.

This is Andrew M. from Rocky Mountain Mattress. I just stumbled upon this thread and would like to clarify the claim made by chihiro.  There is no rayon used in the FR on any of our natural latex mattresses or mattress toppers.  This information has been confirmed as of Sep. 28, 2011.
