Hello all, first post here but I've learned very much from researching here! Was wondering if anyone has any info/thoughts regarding this mattress. It seems like a good price and besides not being able to change layers out, it is exactly what I'm looking for. The cotton cover is removable but not the wool covering. The latex is made by latexco and is Dunlop according to the guy I spoke with at specialty sleep services. It also comes non rolled up when white glove delivered which I think is a plus. Also made in USA. | Well I was waiting for the costco latex bed to go back on sale but then I saw this at sams club. It seems to be better quality than the costco model, although more expensive. It's made in the USA by a company called Innomax. I was told the organic cover is certified so maybe there would be some paperwork that comes with it, the glue used is made by a company called saba, the guy said Its non toxic and you could eat it if you wanted to. To me it seems much better compared to the costco bed but I'm no expert and I'm not sure it's worth the extra money. I belive someone said the costco bed was $1500 for a king with foundation while this one is $1900 just for the bed alone. Do you experts out there think it's worth the extra cash? |
| seeing as how they are using a cotton and wool cover instead of polyester like the costco one, yes I am gonna go ahead and say it sounds like it is actually worth the extra money. |

Does anybody know if Sam's Club changed their 100% latex mattress? It seems that it now has a bamboo cover rather than wool/cotton. That change makes me wonder if other important factors have been changed. Both seem to have their merits and are priced about the same right now. I do like that the Costco one is flippable to different firmness levels. And there certainly are a lot more reviews of the Costco mattress. I've read through all of the posts on the subject, but I'm still not sure which way to go. I'm also considering the Simmons Natural Care Forevergreen Cushion Firm from JC Penney, mostly because we have a JC Penney Home store in the area and I can take the husband there for a test drive of the mattress. The price in the store is comparable to Costco and Sam's. Husband still isn't convinced about the benefits of latex, so he definitely needs to lay on one first. Any and all advice is appreciated. |

I spent quite a bit of time reviewing this bed on their website and also visited the website of the manufacturer and the Latexco website as well. I reached the conclusion that this is a very high quality latex mattress and a much better value than the Costco latex mattress many are purchasing. The foundation looks excellent as well. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this set. If you do, I hope you will report back to the forum over a period of weeks and let us know how you like it. I was actually on the point of ordering it when I switched gears and bought my daughter a Sleepez latex mattress instead. I've been happy (or at least, my daughter is happy) with the Sleepez mattress, but I still think this Sam's Club mattress is a hidden gem. Oh, I just noticed this post is dated February 2010! I bumped up the post because I was questioning the apparent change in the cover materials in the Sam's Club latex mattress (See my post at the bottom of the thread). Did you check out the link to see if you noticed any differences from when you were researching? When I click on the old link for the mattress with the wool/cotton cover, it's not there anymore. |

I haven't been to the Sam's Club website in a few months, but it seems to me the last time I checked I didn't see the wool/cotton version either. That is the model I would have purchased, but I still think the other one offered by Sam's Club is a better quality product and value than the Costco one. You could try calling Sam's Club and see if they still have it or will order it. I wouldn't buy it directly from Innomax, as I recall (memory fuzzy here) they did not have a great return policy, the price was much higher, and the salesman was a slimeball. |

For bert76 and kimberlyh: The original all-latex mattress is still there at Sam's Club - just try a search for "American Sleep Organic". For example: http://www.samsclub.com/sams/shop/product.jsp?productId=prod865236 which is still the same as http://www.innomax.com/index.php?crn=243&action=show The "American Sleep Eco-Green" mattress seems to be the rebranded Allura line also from Innomax: http://www.innomax.com/?crn=229&action=show According to the descriptions (they are identical at Innomax and Sam's) this one is a 3" Talalay latex topper with HR foam core. It's also $560 cheaper than the all-latex mattress ($1338 vs. $1898 for King). Is the HR foam core really much worse than the latex core? Also, the Costco's current price of $1599 for the all-latex King is $300 lower than Sam's - is this really a fair reflection of difference in quality? (putting foundation issues aside and comparing just the mattresses themselves) I'm just starting my quest for a new mattress, and found this forum with so much useful info - thank you all!

Yes, I think the price difference is worth it at Sam's Club, and yes, an all-latex mattress is going to be better than a combination latex/memory foam mattress (imo). Here is why I think the differences in the two mattresses are worth $300 (worth more than $300): 1) The foundation is much superior. The Costco foundation is just a terrible piece of junk, based on my reading of what people have said about it. If you carefully look at the description of the Sam's Club foundation, it looks like a quality piece. 2) The Sam's Club latex is manufactured in the US by Latexco. The Costco latex is manufactured by who knows who in China, and who knows what the quality is or how many fillers have been used. Also note that one of the layers of the Sam's Club mattress is zoned - which might be a more comfortable situation for side sleepers who need a little more resiliance at pressure points - hips and shoulders. 3) The cover of the American Sleep Organic is organic cotton and wool. The cover of the Costco mattress is a single thin layer of something - rayon? The difference in the cover alone is worth the price difference. Mind you, I have not seen either of these products in person or tried them. But my opinions are based on a careful reading of the components of each mattress and foundation, and on reading user reviews (of the Costco mattress - I still haven't seen anyone report that they bought the Sam's Club mattress - which still amazes me). Based on these differences, if I were in the market for yet another latex mattress, I would be willing to pay more for the Sam's Club mattress than the Costco mattress. BTW, when I was researching mattresses, I phoned Innomax, and the price they quoted was considerably higher than what Sam's Club is charging. By all means, if you have questions about the Sam's Club mattress, call Innomax, but don't buy it from them - go to Sam's Club :) This message was modified Aug 10, 2010 by KimberlyH

Yet it's really quite surprising that nobody on this forum has tried it yet, and the price is rather high for me to just take a plunge. I think I'm leaning more and more towards the FBM offering, given many positive reviews that were posted here recently. I think I can take the risk for half the price compared to Sam's Club. |

I called and got some info about this mattress in case anyone is interested. I called the specialty sleep number on the Sams product page and it went to Innomax. The rep was very polite, helpful and chatty and seemed knowlegable about the product... definitely more of a customer support tone than a sales person. He said the mattress is what he would describe as "medium" firmness. He said he is also a side sleeper and finds it to be very comfortable and claims excellent feedback from customers in the 8 months they have been producing this product. I was curious about the wool comfort layer and found out that it is a layer approximately 1/4" - 1/3" thick between the cotton cover and the latex all the way around, top and sides. The wool layer is attached to the latex with an organic adhesive of some sort and the cotton cover zips around that. |
