I just went to Mattress Firm and tried the Sealy Posturepedic Irresistible Cushion Firm mattress.  I liked the way it feels, but am worried about getting burned for $700.  (I am a student and got burned by my Beautyrest that needs replaced after 4 years.) Here are the Stats for the "Irresistible" matress.  Any advice would be SO appreciated!!!

  • Support Layer - TitaniumCoil™ DSi/IS, 560 Coil Count, 660 Queen Coil Density, SitRight™ Edge System
  • Comfort Layers - 2" SealyFoam®, CoreSupport™ Center
  • Covering - FlameGuard™ Rayon Fiber, 2 layers of 0.75" Hypersoft®
  • Box Spring - StayTight™ Foundation
  • Hight 12.25"

Also, what's the difference between "560 coil count" and" 660 queen coil density"?

Hi Tabs,  I actually have that mattress.   I bought it at a Mattress Firm clearance center where it had been a "comfort return" item, so I got it really cheap.  It turned out to be too firm for me.  Just adding a topper didn't help, and I've come to realize that the reason why is that the firmer foam over the springs make the springs not as responsive as they would be with softer foam directly on top of them.  For a heavier person though, it might feel pretty good.   It is a heavy, substantial feeling mattress, as compared to the crappy pillowtop 2010 style Sealy I foolishly bought to replace the Irresistible.  The Irresistible is the 2011 style.   I had to let it air out a month or so, since they are so newly manufactured, they still smell of fresh foam, and I'm pretty sensitive to chemicals.  It made my eyes puffy at first but now it doesn't.  My son likes it much more than I do.  It hurts my shoulders, but he seems fine with it.

I forgot to add, it's also a little shorter than standard.  I don't know if that's due to normal variance, or if they make all of this model a little short.

Thanks Susan!  This mattress shopping thing has thrown me for a loop.  There is so much research to be done! It seems as though the 2011 Sealys are better made than some of their older models.
