Is there a makret for selling a slightly used (5 weeks old) Tempur-pedic mattress? We have a split-king Tempurpedic Allura with the Ergo adjustable bases that we cannot return and are thiinking about selling it to try and recoup some of the cost. I was thinking of asking half of the purchase price if we decide to sell. We would still be losing 5K dollars! I have never tried to sell a mattress before so not sure if it is something that sells or where to post it? Is this a reasonable undertaking for such a product/cost ? Thanks... |
I think it is more than resonable. IN fact I would probably put on Craigslist or equivalent for more than half to start to start. Why are you trying to get rid of it? |
Thinking about selling it because I'm waking up with a pretty sore back. The first couple of weeks seemed OK, but the last 2 weeks I have noticed my back felling fine before I go to bed but waking up with it feeling sore. I think it might just be too firm. If it softens up soon maybe it will be OK? The mattress was supposed to alleviate pressure points and povide a very supportive feel so I'm suprised I'm waking up feeling so stiff and sore? I'm only 180 lbs and the wife is about 125. She's not feeling any back pain but doesn't seem too thrilled with the overall feel. Maybe we're just not memory foam fans! It sure will be an expensive mistake if we end up having to sell it..... |
Sorry ro hear that. If you have given it 5 weeks you should know if it will work or not. Why not keep the adjustble bases, there is really no sense in taking a loss on those. If you had a Savvy Rest dealer in your area a 10 in Serenity on the adjustable would be a great bed. It is a latex mattress with the ability to customize firmness. Also think you could probably sell the mattress alone for less $$ making it easier to sell... just my 2 cents. |
Well, I put the mattress up for sale on the local Craigslist but so far have only gotten scam artists responding! Unbelievable, you can't even try to sell anything anymore without the criminals coming out of the woodwork. Anyway, if anyone is interested in a firm Tempur-pedic Allura Mattress in King Split that is only 7 weeks old, I'm selling it for half price!! Thanks... |
Dang. That's an awesome mattress for an awesome price. You should have no problem selling it to someone who knows a little about what they are buying. The problem with the Allura, is that it takes so long to condition and soften up. I totally understand why people give up on this mattress. It seems like mine took a year to condition. And I walked on it a lot. Sorry it didn't work out for you. Have you thought about Ebay? |
|
If you haven't tried it yet, start walking on the mattress at night before going to sleep. It will help speed up the conditioning process some. Also, are you sleeping with the head and legs elevated? If not, try to find a comfortable position while lying on your back and that may help some with the lower back pain. |

tempurpedics don't work and they are overpriced. |
Tempurpedics do work, and are every penny. Of course these are opinions. And they are neither right or wrong. Except Roy just happens to be wrong on this one. Welcome back Roy. Haven't seen you around here in awhile. I see you still haven't found a bed that will work for you. By the way, I'm still waiting for my Tempurpedic to turn to mush like yours did. It's still in like new condition after 4 years. I'll try walking on it more. Take care, and good luck with your continued search. |
Kevin, what part of the country are you in? I'm east coast and may be interested. j |
|
I am interested and sent PM. |
Well, I contacted Tempurpedic Customer Service and told them my issue with the Allura and they have agreed to exchange it out for me. They told me to go to a local retailer and decide on which model I want to exchange out for and I decided on the cloud Luxe. The Luxe seems like it will offer the support both will not be as firm as the Allura? We shall see? I have to admit that I am impressed with the CS at Tempurpedic. They had no obligation to take the mattress back as I did not purchase it through them. The CS woman was very helpful and seemed very willing to try to put me in another mattress that would give me the comfort I was looking for... |
Hi Kevin, im interested in buying a split CA king. Is yours the CA by any chance? If so, where are you located? I think you can return them also if you bought them within the past 90 days. |
