Simmons model at Sears?

Hi all,

I’ll admit it. I’m spoiled.

After a year on my new bed-—combination of a tallalay Vera Wang “Serene Peace,”, a Natura tallalay topper, and a micro denier topper-—sleeping on anything else is a let down; the only other thing I find comfortable is the Heavenly Bed (good thing, since I’m in Westins on work trips 12+ times a year). Like I said, spolied.

The challenge now is the bed in the guest room at my parents’ house, where I’ve been trying to spend more time these days. Even after 25 years, the mattress in there feels  like a slab of concrete; if I sleep at all, it’s in agony, not to mention how my back feels in the morning.

Thankfully, I’ve convinced them it’s time to replace the beast. Thank God.

Told them I’d do the dirty work, but I live in Minneapolis...they live in Nebraska...so this is all happening long distance. No way they’ll go for a $2,000 expendature on a twin bed (understandably) or a piece-it-together option. This is going to have to be a major label item, possibly limited to local stores only. That means Sears, Penny’s, Slumberland, and possibly Nebraska Furniture Mart since they deliver to Grand Island.

I’ve pretty much decided we need to go with a Simmons model, and have looked at the Dakar mentioned in another thread. From what I see on that particular website, however, the coil count is only 464, which seems low compared to all the Sears models that clock in at 800. Since my own bed’s not a coil system, this is not an area in which I have expertise.

Also, since each company changes the names of their inventory (maddening), there’s a translation problem too.

So...here’s my dilemma:

Does anyone know which of the Simmons models offered by these stores most closely resembles the Heavenly Bed? I’m willing to go with a non-pillow top, then kick in the tallalay and/or micro denier toppers myself, to save on compression later. Any help you guys can lend is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
