I was originally going to buy a 4" 5LB memory foam topper and add that on top of an existing spring mattress or latex base.  But I have a spring mattress I can use as a base for now - may get foam base later down the line.  Since having read through a few posts - I'm now considering getting 2" of 5LB Memory Foam and underneath that 2" of Latex.  From what I gather from reading other's posts - anything more than 2" of memory foam can cause back issues.   I don't need any more of them so I'm thinking the originally planned 4" 5LB of memory foam could present some issues.  So does 2" memory + 2" of latex + cheap spring mattress as base seem like a decent plan?  Or maybe 3" of memory foam + 1" latex or some other combination?

I'm looking at sleepwarehouse.com and foambymail.com.  Sleepwarehouse.com is more expensive but do they have that much better quality of a product?

Sleepwarehouse.com has:
2" Sensus Memory Foam 5LB Queen for $202.50
2" 100% Latex Queen Sized Medium-Soft 16-18 ILD 4.75 lb Queen for $233.10 -or- 2" 100% Latex Medium-Firm 28-30 ILD 5.2 lb Queen for $260.10

$435.6 total for medium-soft or $462.6 for medium-firm.  What's a better firmness combo?

Foambymail.com has:
2" 5LB ViscoMAX Memory Foam Queen for $114.99
2" Talalay Latex 20ILD Queen for $179.99 -or- 2" Talalay Latex 32ILD Queen for $189.99

$294.98 total for medium-soft or $304.98 for medium-firm.  What's a better firmness combo?
