Some questions on Latex

Hi, I'm new here and I've tried to read all the information before asking this. I've concluded that three layers is the best value/comfort setup. I would definetly like to get it right the first time. So I have these questions:

1. How much movement transfer do I get with [bottom]firm/medium-soft/soft[top] layer combination? Is it enough to wake my wife early morning or while moving during the night? I was thinking on getting a 6" king base layer, two individual  3" twin sized middle layers( medium for me and soft for my wife), and a soft 2" king sized comfort layer at the top. I don't know if the individual middle layers would increase or decrease the overall movement when getting out of bed.

2. Which is the best combination of layer thickness/latex-type for best comfort? I see SleepEZ uses 2.8" for all their layers in the 10K series. I was expecting to use a larger base layer and build my mattress from FoamByMail, since prices seem better. As for the latex type, I would like to know if Talalay under a regular latex layer works better than having only the top layer Talalay.

3. Is there a big difference by choosing a firm vs extra firm base layer? My box is made of solid wood. So no spring box.

I believe I had another question but I forgot. Propably because I didn't sleep well. ;)

Thanks
