Sore shoulders, back & numb arms with 12" Spa Sensations-need your advice ASAP!

I recently ran across this website in hopes of finding an answer and researching a better mattress choice. As I have gotten older, I really have a developed a sensitivity to pressure points which leads to an aching back in the morning.

After reading the posts on the Walmart Spa Sensations 12" memory foam mattress and the 1500 plus positive reviews on their website (with 1400 of them giving it stellar ratings) and great price to boot, I figured that this is my matress nirvana. Wrong! I slept on it for the first time last night and noticed that within 20 minutes of laying on my back I couldn't remain in this position any longer. (I don't sleep on my stomach) From the tops of my shoulders to the middle of my back, it started aching and the tops of my arms went numb. I was only able to sleep if I slept on my side but couldn't remain in this position all night long, and that's why I couldn't sleep.

Is this discomfort caused by a too firm mattress? I hope so because from these posts I did learn that you need to go firm and add toppers as you go to make your bed softer.

Can anyone who is experienced these symptoms explain to me what I can do from this point forward to get a good night's sleep, or recommend a mattress topper that will help me?

I'm not a medical doctor, but I would guess the mattress is too firm. The loss of circulation and pinched nerves lead leads to numbness and tingling. This to me sounds like the mattress is probably too hard and is not resilient enough under the pressure points. Does it feel firm to you?
