I've never heard of anyone selling just the springs. You might be able to achieve a similar effect with an adjustable platform.

You didn't say what size, but I bought a Twin Englander for about $220, for just the springs. I cut it open about 2 days after I got it (after trying it "as is" and realizing it was uncomfortable). I imagine you could get a King in firm - from any S brand - for about $400 if you bargain them down. Then just cut it open and take out the crappy poly foam. But yeah, once you buy it and cut it open, it's yours!
 

Well,I am trying to avoid the whole mattress surgery thing. I figure if I buy the firmest mattress I can find I can just add foam and not need to do surgery. The trick is finding firm mattresses that would fit into the SleepEZ cover. I think I might have found something that will work. Companies like Invacare make "hospital" mattresses that are roughly 6" high. They are sized so you can take 2 of them and put them together (side by side)  to make a Cal King. 2-4" of foam on these should do the trick. The problem is that its hard to find any real info on these. So it may be better just to buy a very firm S brand and put the foam on top of that. That said, if anyone is familiar with these mattresses please chime in...

 PS - They even make "bariatric" mattresses which say they accomodate weights of up to 750lbs! That should last forever if you are of a normal weight, no?
