I'm looking for a new matteress, as the current one feels like it's broken, and causes backpain for both my husband and I (granted one reason is because we dont regularly sleep with our backs straight --- we're both side sleepers). For background, I'm 5'3", 120lbs, and he is 6'3", 250lbs.
Anywho, we tested a bunch of mattresses. The thought was originally that we wanted a firm mattress, but the seller at a local mattress store convinced us that we want one that keeps our backs straight. Sounds like the right thing. The mattress that we've both liked is the Pure Latex Bliss 10" nature mattress with a 3" latex topper. Total for the two is $3,200 - which is rather a lot. It just didn't make sense to me as, I dont understand why the below.
If I need a topper on a bed anyways, why can't I get a generic mattress (say, online, even if it is latex) and buy a topper at the store (like this one)? Does my mattress actually matter?
Also, is there a more affordable alternative to the PLB Nature bed with the 3" topper?
Please help! We really need a new bed - our backs are dying!
