The ultimate camping matt - Latex?
Im looking for something I can take with me on long, extended bike trips. My first though was a closed cell foam (think yoga matt) as its light, durable, and cheap. But realistically its also hard and not very comfortable. My next idea is to look into latex.
Has anyone tried just sleeping on a 1 or 2" extra firm (say 45 ILD) latex pad? Im thinking something custom size (smaller than a twin) MIGHT work. Im worried more about the weight than the size of the latex (both will be a problem obviously).
Would I be better off going with a synthetic foam like memory foam? Assume for now that price is not an option (even though I am broke) as this will be a long term investment. I weigh about 150 lbs and w hile I normally prefer a medium to medium firm bed ( I sleep on my back, side, and stomach) for this purpose something very firm would be acceptable. |

pretty hard to beat a down filled sleeping bag for comfort, and lightness. i think it would also handle the elements better than any piece of foam. |

I plan to have the foam sealed inside some type of waterproof polyurethane material. Of course I would still be using a quality sleeping bag....this is just mainly a comfort idea. |
