Can anyone out there tell me if they have dealt with USMattress.com and purchased a mattress from them online? Their prices look really good compared to our local mattress store
on the very same mattress.

Take a print out of the web site showing the prices AND THE INNER CONTENTS of the mattress in question back to your local store. If you tell them you plan to buy from a web site, often they will lower the price based on that. Of course you have to factor in the cost of delivery if any.

However, some retailers will pull the old "but their mattress isn't quite the same as our's" routine. If they say that, ask them to show you the specs from the manufacturer proving that it is substantially different. Are the coils made by the same factory? Are there more coils per Queen in their mattress? Are their coils of a higher gauge than the USmattress mattress? Either they want to make a sale or they don't.

I always prefer to buy local when I can, but sometimes the local retailers simply want to gouge you. Even one local retailer may gouge you in comparison to another.

When I bought my Englander, the store closest to me, where I preferred to buy, told me his best price was $300 for a twin. I called a retailer about 3 miles further away that I'd never gone to before, and he offered the same mattress to me for $229, without my even pushing him for a "Better price". That's called gouging in my book. So of course I ordered it from the 2nd, cheaper store, and it was delivered more quickly than the other guy because they do more business with the manufacturer.

Almost ALL mattress stores can come down in price than the "best price" they first give you. It's like shopping for cars, you almost always have to haggle to truly get their best price.
