I would love to hear from everyone with a latex pillow that they really like a lot.  We have a new latex mattress and are now looking for a good pillow.  We are both side sleepers and when we went to try latex at a European Sleep Systems store locally, they had some wonderful pillows ($160/queen) and they determined we needed one to be Firm 1 and one to be Medium 2.  I don't want to pay that much.  I saw some on Overstock and Ebay but would love to hear your thoughts.  Thanks!  I tried to do a search here on pillows, but didn't find much information.

I personally find solid latex (for me) to be too much support.  Whether it be blended or all natural rubber the only latex pillows I like are shredded rubber pillows.

But finding the right pillow is probably harder than finding the perfect mattress, so go with what you know.

Thanks, budgy, for your opinion.  I would probably have said that too if I hadn't tried those great pillows I mentined in my original post.  They were so comfortable!  I bought a Simmons brand latex 2 years ago but it is too soft and bouncy.  The ones on Overstock got some excellent reviews.  Anyone else tried them?

I may be labeled "Costco Pitchman" here pretty soon if I keep posting their stuff, but they've had these pillows up on their site for weeks without any pricing and FINALLY put them up today.  I laid on them at the local bed store and really liked them.  The best part is, this is a full $20+ cheaper than they were at the local place.  Natura's a great company, love their washable wool mattress pad.

(Geez the hyperlinking is TERRIBLE in this forum.  "Latex Pillow" on Costco, it's the Ultimate Latex Core Pillows one.)

Hey Budgy..it's been a while...

What do you call "too much support?"  Too hard?  eagle2 said he hated the shredded...too heavy...I am sleeping on an itty bitty 18" piece of solid latex (and no, I don't know what firmness (!) with down over it and am loving the support...while I search out a better way.

Best regards,

TJ

Thank you for that tip Sleeper!   Have you tried the zoned version by Nature's Rest? Been curious about that one too.  But it seems Natura is a good company to go with from what I can tell...and not only are they good, but they're Canadian and that should make Budgy happy, eh Budgy?

Thanks again.

I love the Overstock Natural Latex pillows I bought 2.5 years ago.  I have 6 of them and two are perfect for me since they are slimmer than the others.  They are soft but not too soft and not too hard.  The pillows give my neck good support but may be too slim for someone very tall.

Hi TJ :)

Actually I carry the full line of Natura pillows, but I am biased because I find pretty much any pillow outside of down to be a little too hard.  If there is one thing us Canucks are serious about, its our down lol.  And its really just my opinion but the word pillow to me means 'unbelievably soft' and thats what I want, that being said I found latex (shredded or solid core) to be more comfortable than wool fill pillows, cotton pillows, tempur-pedic pillows, memory foam pillows, feather pillows, or simply polyester fill.

I have 3 latex pillows.  The first one I got was standard size, made by Latex International, I found that not tall enough.  The second one I got was zoned standard, and found that too flat in the middle (I use that between the knees and just right for that), finally the third one is a Queensize (that is longer and wider) and that is just right!  No neck or shoulder pain now.  I have a down pillow, it goes too flat, not good for me.

All the latex pillows are LI and 2 are from Sears and one from Penneys.  I love the smell of them.  I use them all to read at night.

I'm with Budgy - I tried three different latex pillows and couldn't live with any of them. One was too soft (flat), one was too hard, one was zoned, but still too tall. And I didn't like the bouncy feel of them. Finally, I shredded the last one by hand and filled the zippable pillow cover to the precise level that works for me (experimented over several nights), and that worked for me.

I wanted a few latex pillows but wasn't sure which I would like best, so I ordered them one at a time.

To start, I bought a Nature's Rest Zoned Firm Queen from Overstock.com. I liked the Firm, but thought it might be a little too firm.

Next I ordered the Nature's Rest High Loft Plush, and thought that was a little bouncy. My son loved it and it's now his.

Then I ordered a Nature's Rest Zoned Plush, and that's my favorite of them all. But I have the Firm on my bed as well, and use them both.

I used to wake up with a stiff neck almost every day, and had tried every kind of pillow. But I never had a latex pillow before, and it's amazing that my neck pain is now gone! Needless to say, I highly recommend them!

Overstock had the best prices on these, $60 - $65 depending on the firmness. They sell for up to $100 elsewhere in Queen size. Last time I looked Overstock sold out of the Queen size, but you can get them for $75 from a store on Amazon.com.

That's interesting, you shredded it by hand, very smart.  For those that find the latex pillows to tall you should try the standard size those are not so tall.  But I like the tall one, which is queensize.  I found the standard too flat.

Is Nature's Rest made by Latex International or by another company?  Just wondered because the zoned LI pillow was too flat for me.

I found the best prices at Sears when they have a sale, and Penneys, about $40 or so.  50% off I try to get.

I have tried many different pillows.  Have tried foam, have tried the one piece latex.  Didn't like them.  Being a stomach sleeper, I don't like something too firm as it cocks my head up.  For years, I used a very old feather/down pillow that I could make a good indenation in and really didn't like anything else.  Now with my latex mattress, I use two standard sized down pillows that I bought from TJ Maxx for about $15 each; one for my head and one to hug.  Its amazing all of the junk that is out there in department stores that are called 'pillows'.  I wouldn't let Bandit (my dog) sleep on most them.

If you want a firmer shredded latex pillow at a great price, look at Pillowflex.com.  I bought one of these but it was a little too firm for me. I suppose if I ever get ambitous enough I could take some of the latex out and make it softer.  Good product though and really great prices - I think it was $25. shipped from Georgia to Oregon.

Leo3, yes Nature's Rest is made by LI. They make both Low Profile, 6" high, and High Loft pillows, 7" high. I have the 7" ones, if you buy another one try the High Loft, it's very comfy.

Wow, I've been gone a few days and glad to read all the responses about the latex pillows!  I think I am going to purchase one from Overstock.com.  Are the ones from Sears and Penneys the good latex from L.I.?

I just bought a JC Penney latex pillow for the guest room. The label says "All new material consisting of 100% latex foam rubber. Filled by Louisville Bedding Co. 10400 Bunsen Way, Louisville KY 40299. Shell (the zippered case it comes with) made in China, Filled and Finished in the USA. Talalay Latex Foam."

I would say this is a medium firm high loft pillow, about 7" thick. It's extremely comfortable, and reasonably priced. The Queen sized pillow is only $40, or $35 if you buy 2 or more, and I highly recommend it.

I have both solid and Natura shredded foam pillows. I didn't find either comfortable, although the shredded was a bit better. It had a layer of wool around it. Instead, my favorite pillows are Pacific down and Down-Around feather and down pilows. I was raised on these type. I like to be able to punch them into different shapes to fit my head. My 17 year old daughter likes the solid latex pillow.

Yes, the Sears and the Penneys I got are both from L.I.  Though Natalie's tag said something else, but I believe hers is too.  They are private labeling I guess for JCP and Sears.  If you go to LI website it shows pillows are made by them for Sears, JCP and I believe Bed Bath and Beyond.  But BBB is more if you get the pillows on sale at Penneys or Sears.

I love my queen size one, the standard wasn't thick enough.  I never get neck aches anymore.

Click here for LI link, when you click the link for Sears it will take you to their website and the latex pillow.  That was how I knew it was the same one.  I clicked on the link for JCP and they are having 2 for 1 sale. yesdevil

Yippe Admin fixed the hyperlink, you only have to click the hyperlink icon once and it works!!!

That's strange that the LI link takes me to JC Penney's pillows. This is the same pillow I purchased that says "Filled by Louisville Bedding Co." on the tag. Is Louisville Bedding a subsidiary of Latex International?

No I believe the Louisville Bedding Co. is the one that supplies the cover.  They seem to be private label for different companies, so they don't put the LI name on.  The do the same thing for mattress manufacturers.  Good pillows aren't they?

Well as a consumer I'd rather know who makes the latex over who stuffs it into the case! Yes really nice pillow, and reasonably priced too!yes

Leo3 and narnia:  I appreciate your input!  I bought 2 Simmons latex foam pillows about 2+years ago (before I had ever heard of latex foam)  and cannot use them. Neither can the hubby.  We sink down too far into them and don't seem to have any real support on our necks, just flatness.  I just checked the tag on them and it does say Louisville Bedding Co also and talalay foam with a 10 year guarantee.  Based on this, I am wondering if you could describe your pillows or the way they feel as sinking down into them?  I know this is a very subjective answer and 10 people would probably have 10 answers, but I would appreciate your thoughts!  Does the Nature's Loft pillow do this too?  I want my head to sink in some but still support my neck.

What size are they?  If they are standard they are too flat for me.  I like Queen size one I got at Sears.  I bought a standard at JC Penneys, zoned, and you sink in that one.  I use the zoned one for between the knees.

Go look at Sears and JCP at the Queen size ones, they are fatter, and I don't feel like I am sinking in, I love it.  I have tried all kinds of pillows too.  I am super picky and finicky.  If you lay on the edge of the pillow you will sink (it is lower) I lay in the middle of it and have no problems.  Even side sleeping I have no pillow problems.  I was even thinking of trying a Kingsize pillow for reading at night.
