Hi All,
What would you recommend as a good foundation for our 9 or 11" latex bed? I'd like something that's not too expensive, but I want to make sure it's sufficient to support our mattress well... Here are a few options I'm looking at:
  1. This 8" wood slat foundation (for $225)?
  2. This similar 8" wood slat foundation (same as the SleepEZ website's foundation) for $239?
  3. A new, regular box spring from a local furniture store (not sure how much, but likely twice the cost?)
  4. A used box spring from Craig's List (saw one for $50)? :) Not sure my wife would go for that though!
  5. FoamSweetFoam's 9" mattress foundation for $299...
  6. I think these 3 are perhaps too pricey to consider?

    1. This FloBed wood slat foundation (but much more at $579! - and only 5.5" high)
    2. This FloBed fir wood slat foundation (even more at $679! - and only 5.5" high)
    3. This FloBed euro slat foundation (more still at $779! - and only 5.5" high)
  7. Other suggestions?
Thanks for your thoughts on this! Take care,
--Kyle

I would price a good foundation (NOT boxspring) from a reputable local furniture/mattress store. If you are in the New England area, check out "Gardner Mattress". They sell a very sturdy wood/metal foundation with their latex mattresses for about $350. as I recall. Before I bought my latex mattress set from them I asked if they would sell the foundation separately and they said they would. The foundation quality was the main reason I bought from them. However, if I had it all to do over again, I'd get JUST the foundation and then custom build my latex mattress from an online seller.

just fyi, that doesn't look like the SleepEZ foundation I have. Mine came in 3 sections (head, middle, foot) that bolt together, similar to the Flobeds (6.1.) one you link to.

Well, I have a nice wood bed frame already that needs a regular 7-10" foundation. I found locally owned furniture store that builds their own wood slat foundations for $274 (7") and another one that has a 9" wood slat frame for only $140. So, I'm going to go take a look at those two today and probably pick from them! :)
Thanks for the suggestion Mark! Take care,

Kyley,
Looks like you and I are in the same area, where did you end up for your foundation, as I think I will be in the market for a couple very soon?

I've realised that a lot of the foam mattresses go on regular boxsprings, but the tempurpedic voids the warranty if you use traditional boxsprings. Does any one know why that would be? I want to use my older boxspring I already have for a new foam bed, so tempurpedic is out of the question so far. Why are there so many grey areas!!!
