Being an outlet store, you may have purchased a bed that had issues that couldn't be sold by a S&F retailer.  I wonder, tho, if you went to S&F and had their people out to assess the bed, if the company itself would do anything?

Tho edge squishing isn't that big of a deal...as long as the rest of the bed is good for you.  I hope it lasts!

About the 3 layers of latex that I had for 4 weeks.  It was blended talalay, about 20, 30 and 40 ILD, roughly.  I can tell you for sure, the feel on the pine slat foundation was reallly not good.  I had been doing nothing that would make my right shoulder hurt worse, and after 3 nights on that setup, my shoulder was just aching , throbbing.  I could have exchanged layers, but I was really turned off to what was going on because it felt ok, not great, on a typical box spring, but it went to pot on that pine slat foundation.

I kept the latex on a good quality, Stearns and Foster box spring, slept back and forth between the latex and TP.  Although the latex felt ok, I totally felt how if I layed near the edge of the bed, I did not feel...

As said in the other post, ALL foam soften up a little when you have a body laying on them all night long.  There is nothing wrong with that.  In fact, you wouldn't want your mattress to have exactly the same feel forever as the day it arrives at your house.  Let me compare the Stearns and Foster vs. Tempurpedic.

Stearns and Foster 'Hearthstone' plush arrived at my house brand new $1115 set w/ tax twin XL.  It had give and cushiness the first days or so.  It was ok.  First half hour or hour laying on it was alright.  After that, and by morning, it sucked.  What I figure is the cheap batting in the quilt and possibly cheap, lighweight foam didn't do it's job for more than a week.

The Tempurpedic came in brand new and was kinda fimer than the store, but I liked it.  I broke in over several days...

Hmm Interesting, friend. But how can I find out which tempurpedic is right  for me.

If you read budgy's post, s/he says that If you are over 200lbs you need HD tempurpedic but I see you mentioned you are 6 feet 2 inches and weigh 190 pounds, pretty close to 200lbs.

And this cloud you have I see has only 2.8 inches of special tempurpedic foam. IT IS NOT HD TEMPURPEDIC FOAM EITHER. It is also only 8 inch mattress.

I need to find a decent mattress that does supports and relives pressure.

My body statistics are

height 6 feet 2 inches

Real quick,

My 5 week old Tempurpedic Cloud (set is $1999 in Queen) is best ever and should hold up for years.

A 3 layer blended ttalalay latex was not good for me on typical pine slat foundation.  Firmed up and hard on shoulders.  Reasonably comfortable on box spring, but lacked a solid, conforming feel.

iComfort memory foam had quality issues.

Stearns and Foster innerspring plush was pretty good in store, but cheapo batting in quilt and cheap top comfort foams compressed leaving a not so great mattress by morning time.

--------------------------

The only innerspring I might have tried out was Simmons beautyrest 'St. Bees Evenloft' from Sears ... although I'm not crazy about their box springs.  It was a blend of NxG memory foam with ordnary foam.  It may have been alright for the price.  I like...

Don't know how long you've had this mattress, but the S&F pillowtop I bought ($$) last spring was also incredibly comfortable at first, but not only had the edge seams collapsing, but had a major indention in the pillowtop itself within 5 weeks. Luckily I was able to exchange it.

I"m afraid there is no solution for your problem. If you start getting big indentations where you sleep, I think the only answer is to do mattress surgery, which you can read about here:

I have read that Stearns and Foster has a very durable coil construction that should support a bit of extra weight?  I was looking at the Newgate Luxury Firm.  Ideally I will lose weight but if not hope to get 5 years +, is that unrealistic?

Box springs.. are they all the same? - toaster
Nov 5, 2011 8:54 PM
We recently replaced a serta king size pillow top, with a stearns and foster pillow top... we only bought the s&f mattress and used the box springs from the serta.. why? because the serta was only about 10 months old (give or take.. maybe a year).  The sales guy said box springs are box springs. as long as they are not damaged - any box springs would be the same as the next.. is that true?

I know the serta mattress weighs about 50 lbs, where the s&f weighs about 150 lbs.  Just wondering if investing in the s&f box springs is worth it?

I was told there would be no warranty because it was purchased from an outlet store. the tag says it was made july 2011, so the mattress is only a few months old. We've only had it a few weeks, and over all we are very happy with it. With the exception of the side edge collapse on my side. Its not a huge problem, but it is one I'd like to get resolved. I tried to register it on S&F web site, but its asking me for a number that I can't seem to locate on the mattress label... I have the serial number and a bunch of other stuff, but the USA web site for S&F is a little vague as to where to find this specific number, or I'm missing the section it wants the number from.... I'm not sure.

Oh and the outlet store...

Edge foam collapse on Stearns and Foster pillowtop - toaster

We recently bought a Stearns and Foster pillowtop mattress from an outlet store, we got what we considered was a fantastic deal. Here's the problem, on one side, the foam edge support seems to collapse when anyone sits on that edge, the opposite edge is nice and firm and retains it shape and support, however on the other side when someone sits on the edge or even just pushes on the edge, it just goes all the way down with very little effort or force, so when someone actually sits on it, you can nearly feel it go all the way down.

Because it was an outlet purchase, it is AS-IS, so no returns, exchange or warranty. With the exception of the edge support collapse - it seems fine (and extremely comfortable).  So the question is: Is there a solution to this??????
