Re: latex beds by Natura? - DianeK

I laid down on the softest available Green Sleep, which is natural Dunlop, in a showroom but I could tell within 15 minutes that it was too firm (it even made my downside ear hurt).  The Essentia mattresses are made of natural dunlop latex that has been "doctored" so that it mimicks the feel of memory foam.  I'm going to investigate them out of curiosity but they are terribly expensive (so is Green Sleep) and if unreturnable it is unlikely I would gamble on something that feels right in the showroom would maintain that feel through 8 hours of sleep.  But I will start a thread about my experience with them later next week just to let others know about them.

I heard back from Absolutecomfortonsale and they do not resell their toppers.  ACOS does give you 30 days for a return, RMM does not take returns.  So to me that is worth the extra cost.  Or is it?

RMM latex green price for queen is $209, ACOS is $279; this is a 2" topper.

Who else sells Latex Green toppers?

Don't know who else sells latex green. SleepEZ does, don't they?

Is it worth the extra $70 to get a return privilege? That's a tough choice. Maybe it is if you think there's a fair chance you'll want to return it. Of course you will have to pay shipping on it which is probably going to be around $50. And be careful when you unpack it so you...

Leo3: are you addressing me?  I'm currently sleeping on my Serta Perfect Night with occasional forays to the guest bed/husband's bed which is an older foam mattress with a Costco MF topper.  I guess I still haven't completely given up the dream of a latex mattress that would suit both of us because next week I am going to another city to check out the Essensia mattresses. Yes, the Flobed I had tried a few years ago was the blended Talalay.  Also, just recently I was intriqued by Flobeds customizable vZone (you couldn't customize it when I tried it out before) so 10 days ago I bought one and have been playing around with it on top of a pretty much brand new medium-firmness pocket coil twin mattress that we have in another guest bedroom.  It hasn't been any better for my back than the Serta...

Jim, who did you talk to at RMM?  How did they help you?  Did they explain which topper would be best for you?  Seems like they could do the same in a email.  Instead I got "call", I don't want to call.  I can't find the time,  and really does frustrate me in the long run.  I don't remember what they say anyway.  Why is there email if they don't encourage it or want it?  It isn't just them either.  I put my emails in "to be answered" file until I do, is that so hard for a business to do?  Pet peeve of mine.

Okay thanks IFD is ILD.  Budgy, paging Budgy....  Does Latex Green rate their latex by pound?  Is it really accurate?  Is the 16-18 IFD LG dunlop really much firmer than talalay natural?  From RMM website "The dense latex provides superior support, and is...

I read the reviews at O-stock, a few people said it was Latex Green, which is made in Sri Lanka (I believe) and it is Dunlop, so it will be (again I think) firmer than whatever it is rated.  Some say it is seconds.

I have the 1 1/2" toppers, medium firmness, you can't sleep directly on them (I can't).  One time I got a 23ILD LI blended, that was so flawed I had to cut that section out and move it at the feet.  So there you have it.  I am tempted myself to try the 2" one you refer too, but I am a USA made latex person.  Even though I can't say where the others are from for sure without a tag.

Re: Inner Spring vs Pocket Coil - budgy

LOL well I guess we could sort of say that.  I really think this idea that the coils migrate is more a myth. Pocket coils flex more than most standard springs as they are not reinforced by helical wires, so the foam itself flexes more than it does on a normal spring....this might somewhat contribute to more severe body indentations which does seem to happen.  I guess my skepticism is just that none of these people probably ever looked on the inside of the mattress after it 'failed'.  I have cut open a few warrantied Simmons mattresses.  I would even cut the springs out of the pockets where the major indentations in the mattress were located, I would measure the height of the coil inside and outside of the pocket (they were precompressed before being placed in the pockets) so it was a pretty good way to measure empirically if...

Read all previous threads on the all latex Costco mattress and never considered Sam's club. Thank you for all the information.  My Costco queen latex mattress and foundation arrived today and is meant for the guest room.  Delivery guys were great.  The mattress does have an odor and is not laying smoothly so  I called Sleep Science and they were on the phone quickly explaining that the smell is due to the plastic wrap and the bumps are due to mattress being folded.  I was told that the smell should go away soon and the latex should level out as well.  It feels great.  I will spend about $100+ for a snug-fleece wool topper so that guests won't be too warm sleeping straight on the latex.  I've been sleeping  on another latex mattress and love, love, love it.  I purchased from Green Mattress co. a couple of years ago. Each latex layer was wrapped and it...

Any suggestions out there on a comparable topper that is truly latex?

I purchased a Dunlop 2" topper @ overstock.com. It was LatexGreen, 17.3 ILD (still had the QC tag). Very nice piece of latex, no defects. $139

I also purchased a Talalay 2" topper @ The Foam Factory (aka FoamByMail.com). 20 ILD, also no defects. $151

Both were Queen size, properly cut, and did not have seams. The feel of the Talalay is different, but not drastically. I have it on top, in a case which is like a pillowcase made out of sheets with a zipper, and the Dunlop underneath, with a quilted Damask mattress cover on top of it, which firms it up a bit. Together they make my otherwise rock-hard bed feel like I'm sleeping in a cloud. I'm a side...

Hey Kimberly, you may have already gotten all the answers that you need, but I'll chime in that my local "green" store has wool mattress toppers.  I have one on my son's crib as his moisture pad and it works great for that, but also he never seems to sleep hot.  And he even sleeps on his tummy.
