Re: Flobed - a big disappointment so far - or maybe not! - Lynn2006

BobJ, I am glad FloBeds came through for you like they have for me with their customer service that aims to please and seems to really care about the comfort of the bed to each and every customer. At least that was the way I felt from dealing with both Dave and Dewey. Dave even sliced a latex pillow for me trying to find a pillow the right height for me. But I got lucky and after buy several natural latex standard pillows from Overstock, I found two the right height for me while the others are just a tad too thick. The Queen Size latex pillows from FloBeds were so perfect but too plump for my petite size (I am only 4'10.5" tall) so I am using them as Shams which fit so nicely in my sham covers.
I feel you will like the firmer latex side of the bed once you...

Michelle, What pillow are you sleeping on?
When I made my bed too firm under my 1" topper (when I thought I would try a 44 ILD under my topper), my shoulders would ache in the morning. I also sleep on the side. The only combination that seems to be working for me is my right side of my bed that has the 1" soft latex topper over the two 37 ILD 3" natural latex cores over the 46 ILD blended Talalay Latex core over my slat bed. My left side of my bed is still slightly too firm since I put a 44 ILD in the middle and it feels the best when I go to sleep but I wake up with a little bit of shoulder pain. But the 36 ILD in the middle is too soft for me so I may call Dave at FloBeds one more...

BobJ, I love my standard latex pillow from Overstock that was reasonably priced and is all natural latex. I always loved the feeling of a latex pillow. But I am small and maybe the pillow is just right for me. I did order latex pillows from FloBeds also but they sent me Queen sizes which were to thick for me so I am using them as pillow shams. Maybe you can call back and discuss your patience in the delay in the shipment and see if they can give you a special on a latex Queen Pillow (comes soft, medium or firm).
The slats should be closer together but with the board on top, you may be OK. I will see what others have to say.
All my latex cores are 100% natural latex except for the two super firm latex cores in a 44 ILD and a 46 ILD that are...

TXMichelle, I am so glad that the latex topper is helping and the bed feels better. I lived for to many years with the hardest Posteurpedic bed with no topper and I turned from side to side all night feeling that it was normal but I guess it was my body's way to get off the pressure points. Now I learned that I like a little cushion that is latex under very firm support. Before I bought my FloBed, I learned this by trying to sleep on the floor and finding out I needed more cushion which I got from the natural latex topper I bought over the Internet. It helped me decide that Latex was probably right for me especially since all of my life I have slept on a natural latex pillow due to my allergies....

I have a FloBeds all natural Talalay Latex except for the bottom two Super Firm 44 - 46 ILD latex cores that are the blended Talalay Latex. Most of my Talalay Latex Cores are 37 ILD which is very Firm. I have a 1" topper since the 2" topper was too thick for someone like me who is not quite 5 feet tall and petite in weight as as well height. I love my cover. The first cover sent was not as nice but since it had a tiny rip in it, I called Dave and he told me to wait until all my pieces of latex were selected with exchanges and he would exchange it postage paid with a new topper and then I could also send back which legs I do not want since he sent me a few sizes to see what I would like due to...

Yup. I bought one when they first came out. I got a non-pillowtop which was probably the smartest thing I did. Darn thing was still over 1K, which was a lot of money back when. Anyway, only way to sleep on it was with a nice foam pad. This was also when I was younger and had zero issues(which I think have been caused by the beds and furniture and car seat foam wearing out, but I digress). I slept OK but the second the foam wore out(which was typically in the middle of the night...it went to dead foam...had to get up)there was no sleeping on the thing. Face it, we think of air as light, fluffy soft...but compressed air(that in the bed chambers) is used for power tools!! It is HARD and has no give. Doesn't support the heavier places. Feels dead, no rebound. ...
Wool toppers - Leo3

Here I go again.... I have researched this to death I am afraid. But that Ultra-Fresh stuff they use on SnugFleece toppers bothers me. I emailed Ultra-Fresh to find out the chemicals used (I wouldn't understand anyway probably). But I think they are using "Ultra-Fresh" on lots of things now. I bought socks that had that I believe. They keep sneaking chemicals onto products we don't even know about.

Anyway, does anyone know another wool topper that really is natural? I looked at Flobeds and they have a wool topper, but it is covered in cotton and probably is like the Natura one. I think that would not be fluffy, or as fluffy as a wool topper alone....

Hi, I'm trying to buy a new mattress, and i'm looking for a few tips. Our current bed is a Sterns & Foster Firm Euro-Pillowtop, which now has massive body impressions that are messing up my back (since i'm a back sleeper). My fiance (a side sleeper) of course loves the ultra poofy luxuriousness of the pillowtop, and doesn't mind that the foam collapses after a minute of laying on it.
So my goal is to find a soft and comfortable, yet supportive and durable mattress. Ideally with some amount of "luxury" feel to the quilting, rather than just a very thin cotton cover with a tiny bit of wool.
I started looking at Simmons, but ruled out everything except the Beautyrest Black Viola (with a tiny bit of latex in it), since the top quilting seems soft and luxurious yet not very tall (it's not a pillowtop), so i would...

Mark - I had some confusion about your question....
You said "I have previously tried 2" ergosoft (100% natural latex not blended) that they claim is 16-18 ILD, but I found too hard (I don't beleive that this rating is comparable with the blended ILD rating)"
From what I can decipher, ergosoft is some sort of brand name that a mattress retailer calls their latex? I don't really understand how that soft of a piece of latex felt hard to you. 16-18 ILD is getting about as soft as it comes. Or do you think you had something else? For myself, I can't imagine there is going to be that big of a feel difference in whether its blended or natural on a 2" piece. Not enough to make a 16 ILD feel hard.
If I didn't know anything other than you having a firm bed...

Just purchased a King Koil - Cool Nights latex mattress and both my husband and I feel like it felt much less firm in the store.
My gut was telling me not to make the purchase, but my husband was waking up in pain every morning. We were sleeping on a Simmons pillow top Back Supporter. We decided latex was the way to go. I thought we should go the DIY route or buy a more expensive "all latex" model....but here we are. I know the KK has a non latex foam core and lots of latex on top, we bought a higher end model that has more latex in it but still...
Now I'm thinking I need to soften this KK up. Will a laytex topper help? Can someone recommed a topper model, latex or otherwise?
I am so disappointed so far with this purchase.
Thanks.
Michelle, I've been through so...
