I ordered 1" of ILD 20 today, and I can give my review after it arrives.  It is hard to argue with their pricing.  I hope they ship me 20 ILD like I ordered.

This latex arrived yesterday.  My thoughts are similar to haysdb.  The latex is not quite as nice as talalay from Latex International.  The pores are not as consistent.  However, unlike the sample they mailed to me, the pin core hole structure is consistently spaced, and foam near the edge of the mold is not overly firm.  That I am happy about.  I have no way to measure ILD, but my guess is that I ended up with something higher than 20  It probably isn''t a 32 ILD (which I have 2" of already).  It measures out as a slight trapezoid, which seems normal with latex.  It must be difficult to cut straight lines.  Density...

Beware that many if not most of these "buyer's guides" have a hidden agenda of promoting a particular product. On the page you linked, notice how only two brands are mentioned by name, Tempur-Pedic and Comfor-Pedic. On the FAQ page they just happen to mention three features of the Comfor-Pedic product - at least 3.5" of memory foam, edge support, and a latex layer, which deftly eliminates one of the two brands mentioned by name on the other page. The reader is left with one choice - Comfor-Pedic.

According to this link Chuck Harmon, owner of the aformentioned domain name, is a part owner of the Tahoe Mattress Company, which just happens to sell...Comfor-Pedic.

How about this one: whatsthebest-mattress.org - self-proclaimed "The Web's Non-Profit Consumer Advocacy Site". It's nothing more than an ad for SAT beds, equating their name with the "name brand" mattresses" DUX, Boyd, Natura, Tempur-Pedic,...

My guess is that Simmons is using a memory foam that's made specifically for them by Foamex. Foamex already makes a special foam for Sleep-Aid that falls somewhere in between Aerus and Sensus. Foamex has been doing this long enough that they can make about anything a company the size of Simmons would want.

Let me throw out the name Perfection Mattress. The composition of their mattress is not specifically stated on their website, but when I talked to Lee (the owner) some weeks ago, it was 6" of natural Sri Lankan latex with 3" of Venus memory foam. It's the only mattress I know of using Venus foam, and it uses a whopping 3" of it....

I agree that zoning on the top would be less satisfactory than zoning in the support layers.

Dewey at FloBeds told me they are experimenting with a new system that would allow the user to configure the zoned layer, independently for left and right. He said they were doing more custom zoned layers than he ever thought they would, so it just seemed like a natural evolution of what they are doing now. I do not know how many zones or how the pieces are kept in place.

I have come across quite a few patents concerning different ways of zoning, so there is definitely some interest, it's just a matter of coming up with a workable system.

A flexible slat mattress can firm up some areas relative to others, and therefore provide some zoning. I felt like my ILD 38 core was not supportive enough and yet it was very firm, just...
Re: Talalay latex - 2, 3, or 4 layers? - haysdb

Point takes about sample pieces, but this is a pretty big chunk of latex, and I have a lot of other samples to compare it with, and I stand by my claim that the two are just not THAT much different in feel, they really aren't. But maybe this is a particularly good quality of dunlop, I don't know. I'm not saying all dunlop feels like all talalay or that there aren't any differences, but what I am starting to question is just HOW different they are.

The natural dunlop "pushes back" just as hard as the talalay blend, i.e. the resilience of the two products is very similar....

When I ordered my blended Talalay mattress from SleepEz I asked Shawn who the supplier was. He said LI. This was back in February. Things do change. Call him and ask.  SleepEz sells a very nice product at a really great price. The only drawback is the one comfort exchange limit and the 15% restocking fee if it doesn't work out.

On the blended vrs natural issue: On the one hand natural latex has a certain appeal-- it comes from trees. It's "real" foam rubber. On the other hand, like wine, natural latex has it's vintages. Sometimes it's a good year. Sometimes not. Talatech--LI's blended latex product, is said to be more consistent than natural latex since the synthetic component stablizes any impurities in the natural element. But LI has very exacting standards for its natural latex product and will stand behind it. As for natural Asian latex--who knows? If anyone...

This is all great info. I was considering the sealy latex before I purchased my Spring Air.  Then I found out that the Sealy latex is 100% synthetic.  That closed my mind to that brand. I just feel that at least some natural latex  is better.  I am glad to have read a review from someone who felt they had to change their once rave review. This helps us all learn.

As far as replacing a mattress goes, I don't care if the mattress company has to replace the mattress 3 times in the 10 warranty period. If I get a new mattress every 2 or 3 years because their product failed, great! I would demand the company stand behind the warranty they put in place. After that time , I will be happy to buy a new mattress. After spending over $2000 on a mattress, it had better hold up as...

Sleep EZ - BrettCO

Sleep EZ has made my buying decision simple and logical.  I started out reading their excellent website about the materials and I also read many excellent articles on savvy rest's website, and Latex International's website, and it became clear to me that I wanted 100% Natural (versus synthetic) Talalay (versus Dunlop), I would appreciate 4 layers (verus 2 or 3 layers), split layers (verus single layers), on a slat foundation with optional 10" legs.  This combination led to the highest finished height, with with most options for determining optimal firmness combinations, and offered me the best in durability, breathability and resiliance.  But most important, beyond the premium materials and products that Shaun offers his customers, is the value (extremely competitive pricing) and quality customer attention.  Shaun not only is well versed in the details of his business, he really cares about creating a high satisfaction experience for his customers.  I can tell you, Shaun...

Hi Sillymom and Beddy Bye -- thanks so much for popping in here!

Tonight marks our first full week sleeping on this mattress and I have to agree with you Sillymom. I haven't slept this well in YEARS. No hip, shoulder, neck or back pain. I looooove it. I actually feel rested when I wake up and my allergies have really calmed down. It's incredible and may sound like I'm exaggerating, but I promise I'm not.

Now, how long will it last? That's the question.

You know, I haven't heard of the Four Seasons model. Is it part of the Nature's Rest line or is it considered to be straight from Spring Air? I am happy to hear you are two weeks in and still happy. I hope it stays that way for you too! I tell you, the negative comments I've read have made me super anxious, but I...
Englander Laytex in Southern California - BillyBob_jcv

Hi Everyone - I'm new to the forum, and I hope I can make my first post a good one...

I have been researching and shopping for a Latex Eastern King to replace to our 12 year old Simmons.  I have been mining the old WTB-M forum, and googling, and I've visited the 5 largest shops in my area.  So far, my wife is dead set against me trying to build out a set of cores at sleepez.com or the other online foam favorites.  So, that limits me to local stores.  The selection is pretty thin in mattresses with Latex cores - it appears to be Englander, Serta Vera Wang or Sealy Spring Free.  We did NOT like the Serta or the Sealy - all the models on the showroom were too soft and/or too plush.  We have seen an Englander that we liked - it was quilted, but it did...
