Did some mattress shopping on Saturday, but nothing knocked my socks off. Tried various memory-foam mattresses; hated them. Found the continuous-coil Sertas to be quite uncomfortable (hard on the shoulders). Didn't find anything really comfortable at Jamestown Mattress. Nor at City Mattress -- although I didn't spend much time on any given mattress there, and had a salesman talking at me the whole time I was there. He seemed a bit sad about the decline of Stearns & Foster (after it got bought...

Has anyone tried one out or own one?
I stopped at the Minnesota location the other day and was surprised how comfortable it was and not overly expensive.
Reminded me kinda of a higher end Tempurpedic without that sinking feeling... not necessarily a bad thing.
HOWEVER, I'm worried more about longer term use and how the foam breaks down over time.
Thoughts?!

Their memory foam is a little different than others, as it react much faster than the Tempur Pedic, which I don't care for.
However, it is quite firm. Seems to be softening a little, but I think I'm wanting something I can sink into just a bit more, as I am having some comfort issues. I had hoped a new bed would help me sleep more soundly and wake less to flop around. While better, I'm not there yet. My s.o. is fine with what we have, but admits she can get comfortable on just about anything. I tend to prefer...

I'm debating a latex topper to soften things up for my. My s.o. likes it and doesn't have any problem. We'll see how things progress.

Eventually the foam base will begin to break down and we were told by another sales person that it may not last quite as long as latex, due to the base material. But the warranty is for 12 years on both types, and their customer service is generally very good. Plus, they have a comfort return policy, where you can swap for another mattress within a year for a fee (something like $250).

After much shopping and reading was very pleased with the pricing and quality I saw at Original Mattress Factory. Their pricing allowed me to purchase an adjustable bed.
Have friend who will only buy from Original Mattress Factory.

I like the 9" bed which I believe is comprised of 6" of 32 ILD Talalay latex core, a 2" 19 ILD topper, and then 1" of poly foam. The cost for this mattress would come to around $1700 with tax and delivery.
I can get those materials from Foam By Mail for around $1000 (no tax or shipping), using 6" 32 ILD and 2 or 3" of 20 ILD.
My question is, has anyone done this? Are FBM's ILD levels comparable to OMF? I read on this forum that OMF gets their latex from Latex International. If that is true, how does...
