Box springs versus platform beds?

Which one would be more suitable for people with low back pain? I read somewhere that in Europe they use platform beds mostly and not box springs. I wonder if that may be a reason that they have less low back pain complaints as a result? All I know about platform beds is that they do not need box springs. I do not like box springs. I feel they are contributing to low back pain. So if anyone who has experience with platform beds kindly tell about your opinion about this matter. thanks so much.
