Hello guys,
I need to buy a new mattress and I have been reading a lot on this site. Seems that some guys around here tend to like Sleep Science brand of mattresses. From what I read the some say the Celeste is to firm some say it’s too soft and same for the ARA. I wish there was a way to try them out :( I am not getting good sleeps with my current mattress (came free with my bed so its not a good one and its 8 years old). I weight around 170 lbs. I was wondering what mattress would be most likely right for me. My problem is that I keep turning all night (I sleep on my side), and if I cross my leg over I wakeup with back pain. I checked the Costco page and the Celeste is NOT listed on Queen or King.
Also what about the NovaForm line of mattresses? do you guys recommend that? Advise appreciated.
Thanks Luis |
A 100% latex mattress by Sleep Science is supposed to go on sale at Costco in April. Late 2009 Costco carried them, many members of this board bought one, and it recieved generally positive, even enthusiastic, reviews. I would wait for that mattress and order it. |
Is there a brand/model I can research? I don't know anything about Latex mattresses except that they are somewhere in between Memory Foam and Spring.
Funny thing is that I swear the yesterday the Celeste King mattress was available :( |
If you are interested in reading up on latex, go to: http://www.latexinternational.com/index.php http://www.latexco.com/home/ http://www.flobeds.com/ http://www.sleepezbeds.com/ The first two websites are manufacturers of latex, the second two websites are companies that sell latex mattresses. As soon as the Costco latex mattress is on sale again, I'm sure someone will be posting the link and the particulars about it. It will very likely be less expensive than the mattresses you can get from Flobeds or Sleepez. Latex is considerably different than memory foam. On a memory foam mattress, if you press your hand (or body) into the mattress, the foam will retain the impression and you'll "sink into" the mattress. When you get up, or remove your hand, the impression will remain until the cells are repopulated with air. Latex is a springier, more resiliant material. If you lie on, or press your hand into, latex, it will yield, but get up or take your hand away, and the latex will spring right back to its original shape. If you go to this thread:
http://www.whatsthebest-mattress.com/forum/new-natural-latex-beds-sale-now-costco/7639-A-1.html
and scroll down, someone posted some pictures of the mattress, and you can also read people's impressions. The mattress came with a "soft side" and a "firm side" so you can sleep with whichever firmness level you prefer. It was called the Sleep Science Natural Comfort 10” Latex mattress. I'm waiting for this to come back to Costco so that I can get one for my daughter. This message was modified Mar 31, 2010 by KimberlyH

Note that this is the adjustable bed - the one that Costco will have for sale in April is not adjustable and is considerably less expensive! |
Still that is a good buy for an adjustable bed, those aren't cheap. This message was modified Apr 1, 2010 by Leo3

I went to sleep country to look at the mattresses, and I think I liked the feel of Memory foam over latex. but I sleeping in it its a different story. This is so difficult but I need a new mattress bad :/ I am getting horrible sleep nights.
You guys that have used both types of mattresses (foam and latex) what do you like better? |
