keeping toppers on mattresses

Do any of you have problems with your toppers sliding off the top of your mattress and having to constantly straighten it out?  How do you keep them on without all the shifting!  Right now I have a 2 inch memory foam topper with no cover on it, on top of my SBR mattress.

I want to get a new bed and a natura topper and wonder if I will continue having this problem.

My mattress topper is zippered inside my FloBeds zippered soft organic cotton with wool in the middle cover that I love.  I like having the topper with all the latex cores so it feels like a real conventional mattress but only better without pressure points for those that like Latex and take the time to choose the latex core combinations that are right for their back and body.

If I did not have a FloBed latex kit bed and had a bed that had a cover that did not fit a topper, I would make sure my topper had a cover and then I would get a fitted sheet big enough to cover both the topper and the mattress to keep the topper staying put.  Or I would get a cotton mattress cover that is big enough to cover the topper (that should be enclosed in a casing to have it last longer) and the mattress and then put a fitted sheet on top.  Just my idea.

Others that have the topper over their mattress will probably soon respond.

Try keeping the topper underneath a fitted mattress pad. My topper stays firmly in place since it has no way to slide around.

cloud9, thanks for responding so my idea of putting the pad under a mattress pad was correct that it would work and then a fitted sheet would make it stay put even more so.  I hope this helps the poster.

the mattress I have right now is a twin xl and its almost impossible to find a fitted sheet deep enough for just the mattress, let alone a topper on it!

How thick is the bed Cinnabon?  You can find 17-18" fitted sheets can't you?  At Ross they have them.

As for covers I am using a mattress cover, but I think it makes the topper harder (in my opinion).  I would like to find a terry cloth or thick jersey material that stretches so you can feel the topper's softness.  But so far I have not found this type of fabric.  Jersey fitted sheets are too thin for my liking.  Regular sheets make the topper to firm for me too.  But that is just me ; )

My topper is tucked in snuggly under my Ultimate CuddleBed fitted mattress fiberbed-like pad. But before I had that, I just put a regular, fitted, quilted mattress pad over the topper. It never slips at all. Stays right where it's supposed to. It's important to have deep enough of a fitted skirt to fit around your mattress and topper.

I returned a couple of mattress pads due to this problem. The tight diamond stitching on most woven cotton mattress pads made to fit snuggly over the mattress with elastic sides actually produces a sort of trampoline effect when you lie on it. Couple that with the stiff liner on the bottom and it does make the mattress or the topper on the mattress feel harder. I discovered that the mattress pads that are quilted in broad horizontal bands are much softer all around and eliminate the trampoline effect completely.

Leo, I don't know if you have a Mervyn's nearby, but they carry both the mattress pad I just described as well as a stretch terry one that sounds just like what you're looking for. If you don't have a local Mervyn's try their website at mervyns.com

Thanks for the info!  Not sure what the horizontal mattress pad looks like.  You don't have a link to it do you?  I tried Mervyns.com and couldn't find anything.  I will go look at the store thank you.  Also what about sheets, do you know any good quality stretch sheets?  What do you use?

This is why I like my Ultimate CuddleBed from Costco. It makes my topper feel sooooo cushy and cozy. I highly recommend it!
