Just ordered Dunlop set from Sleepez

After weeks of exhaustic research on mattresses, I finally took the plunge and ordered a Dunlop set from Sleepez.  I spoke with Shawn last night and he advised the Dunlop over the Talalay due to my weight  (more than 200 lbs.).  He was very informative and I appreciated getting the facts.  For heavier people, the dunlop seems to be a better choice and will last longer than the Talalay.  I did order their new soft  dunlop for my top layer---he said that it has a ILD of 16 and has heard good reports about it.  I will post my opinion here after trying it out.  For the record this is what I ordered:   King size 10,000   hubbie's side is Firm base   Firm Middle and Medium top layer (he likes a firm bed and sleeps on his back).  My side is Firm base/ Medium middle and  the new "soft" top layer ( I like support with a little bit of cush as I am a side sleeper).

I received my order from Sleepez in just 4 days---everthing came just as I ordered it and it really was a breeze to put together.  Thanks to those who posted earlier advising for split pieces with a King set--it is a lot easier to deal with than a full sheet and makes no difference once it is all put together.  That being said, I have a few comments after sleeping on my set for 2 nights---We went with Dunlop because of our size--I am 5'3 and weigh 200 lbs and my husband is 6'4 and weighs 240.     I think we made the right choice in choosing the dunlop (for longetivity) but I think we went a little too firm.  I am still tossing and turning (although , not as much as with my spring set).  I am thinking about trying to replace my Firm bottom layer with a medium.  My Hubby also wishes to go a little less firm--he is going to replace his firm middle layer with medium and maybe even a soft layer on top---he likes my side better than his.  We will play around with the pieces we have for the next 2 weeks and see how that works before making any exchanges.  By the way, I don't think the extra expense of the slats is worth it.  My existing box springs are working just fine.  Talk to Shawn at Sleepez, he can advise you.

Nursegail, I am glad you went with the recommendations of others on this site as well as myself to get split cores. I love my split cores which makes the cores easier to move around and give more comfort layer combinations.   I found out that no matter what combination I made the bed, what worked best for me was very firm everywhere but a 1" cushion on top that I put under my zipped up cover after I took out the 2" soft layer. If I was not so petite, I would have loved the 2" FloBed cushion. My advice would be to get a cushion on top and then play with the layers to get it at your comfort level before making an exchange. I sleep on my side so the cushion was needed but too soft underneath the cushion and my back started to hurt.  I am very comfortable now and others that try out my bed are amazed at the comfort level. It sounds like Dunlap will work for both of you once you get the layer combination just right.

I also sleep on latex pillows that I love so much which helps in my comfort.

Please keep us updated on what combination you both end up with to help others on this site.

Lynn,

You are soooo correct!!!  I thought that I was going to exchange my firm middle layer for a softer one because my back was still aching.  My husband wanted to try out a medium middle layer, so I let him have mine and I slept on his firm, so now I have FIRM,bottom and middle with soft and a 2 inch memory foam on top and it feels much better!!!   I stuffed the memory foam topper inside the cover without problems.  (It is a high quality memory foam which I had purchased last year). Now my hubbie has Firm bottom, medium middle and top with the memory foam topper and he likes his better as well.  It really is great to have the split sides to experiemt with.

Nursegail, You made my night reading that you used my suggestion on putting a little cushion on top and now the bed feels comfortable.  :) I am also glad you also love the split cores.  We all try to help each other.

I have to be up early tomorrow for a major meeting and then I have this 15th Corp. and Indiv'l  Extension deadline date so I will try to log on now and then to see if I can help but will do better at helping others like they helped me when I had my questions a little less than 1.5 years ago when I have more time.

Please keep us updated.

We have been sleeping on the new layers for about 3 weeks now and have switched the layers around.  I was surprised to see that I actually like the firm firm soft side (with a 2 inch memory foam topper)  We stuffed the topper inside the pad and it fits just fine!!!
