MY FLOBED CAME!
Whew! The Flobed arrived this afternoon in 3 boxes! I got all the pieces out and checked them to be sure I got everything ordered. I couldn't put it together right away because I was waiting on a foundation to be delivered. They finally brought the foundation around 6:30, so I got to work! Originally I intended to take pictures of the process, but then my DH came home and announced he wasn't helping, so I huffed all the pieces upstairs, laid out the cover as instructed, and began taking out the individual layers. Aside from each piece being heavy and unwieldly, it really wasn't too difficult to get the layers on the mattress cover. and adjust them. I did have to stop and take a 10 minute break after getting the first 2 layers on the bed (4 pieces). Layer 3 went on . . .and then the topper! That's where I ran into a little snag. I put the soft covoluted top layer on, and it's waaaay too big! It's marked a queen, but I'm pretty sure it's a king, lol. I get it lined up top to bottom and along one edge, and it overhangs the other side by about a foot! So . . .temporarily, I folded that piece up and set it aside and zipped up the other 3 layers into the cover. First impressions are, this bed is amazingly comfortable! I was worried about getting a firm/xfirm/xfirm, and I'll have to sleep on it a few nights, but oh la la! It's comfortable just to lie on. Very supportive, springy and bouncy, but not hard. Tomorrow I'll have to call Dewey and have a chat about the top layer. What I'd like is permission to just cut that piece to size without losing my 90 money back guarantee. I've been waiting so long for a comfortable mattress, I don't want to mail this one back and wait for another convoluted piece. If he says ok, I'll trim it down, unzip the cover, put the convoluted layer on . . . and ahhhhhh. I'll do as Eagle and report back on my experiences with my Flobed, though maybe not in the same precise detail. I can't wait to go to bed! |
Re: MY FLOBED CAME!
Thank you for this information. I am very sensitive to chemical odors (i even once had an electronic keyboard that had an odor new out of the box, that still bothered me 6 months after airing out- that no one else seemed to notice). So if I go latex I will try to splurge on 100% botanically grown latex. |
Re: MY FLOBED CAME!
What the mind does to memory. I see that I reported it really smelled. Now I don't remember the smell being overpowering at all. But yes, sounds like you might be better off with the 100% botanically grown latex. I just got a new layer the other day from Flobeds, and I didn't notice any smell at all from it. BTW, I asked my husband this morning about the bed. He says he likes it a lot, and he doesn't think his sleep issues are related to the mattress in any way. So that answers that question. |
Re: MY FLOBED CAME!
Jason: I will be receiving a blended piece of latex by the first part of next week. As soon as I unpack it I should have a much better idea of the difference between the odor of 100% botanically grown latex and blended latex. I will report back on my findings. You spoke in another thread about the requirements of returning a FloBeds piece of latex for an exchange, and how there return policy works for a refund. I will try to address that for you. When you order a replacement piece of latex you can give them your credit card number for the cost of the return shipping and they will send along a return shipping label. All you have to do is unpack the new layer of latex, put the old layer of latex in the packaging that you just received, put the label on the box and take it to a UPS station and turn it over to them. One process that seems complicated but isn't, is using your vacuum cleaner to suck the air out of the return piece of latex. Latex is such that you can reduce its size by about two thirds by removing the air from the package. This is how the packages are sent to you, with the air removed. If you decide you do not like the bed during the 90 day, and want your money back give FloBeds a call and discuss it with them. Once they have exhausted all avenues of satisfaction for you and you still want your money back, you simply pay the shipping charges back to FloBeds, once they receive the returned mattress and inspect it for any damage, if there is no damage and the bed is acceptable to them, they will credit your card. That is all there is to it is my understanding. This message was modified Nov 26, 2009 by eagle2
