Hi, I have been looking for a new mattress and when I was researching Latex mattresses I found this site. I had already decided to try a latex mattress before coming here and from what I have read I am more convinced that is what I want. My husband noticed a new latex mattress listed on the Costco site and I was wondering if anyone has tried it. I know it is new, but I thought maybe someone might have some comments that might help. Here are the highlights of the bed components - we would be getting a King size with the foundation and at $1499.99 it seems like a steal. I know we would be sacrificing the ability to customize the firmness on each side but is it worth $1000.00 for that??? Here are the list of latex layers - Four layers of 100% natural latex for unsurpassed comfort: Layer 1 – 1” 19 ILD natural latex – soft layer Layer 2 – 2” of 24 ILD natural latex – medium layer Layer 3 – 4” of 32 ILD natural latex – support layer Layer 4 – 3” of 24 ILD natural latex – medium layer Two mattresses in one! Due to its unique construction, the Sleep Science Natural Comfort Latex Mattress allows you to sleep on either the top or bottom of the mattress. Each side has been engineered for a slightly different feel, one softer than the other. The Sleep Science Natural Latex Mattress is two high quality mattresses in one. The mattress is delivered with layer 1 (softer sleep surface) on the top. For a firmer sleep surface, remove the mattress from the cover, flip the mattress, put the cover back on and enjoy a firmer sleep surface. 100% Natural Latex. Certified by the ECO-INSTITUT as 100% Dunlop processed natural latex. Sleep Science Natural Comfort 10” Latex mattress fits the dimensions of your bed Meets the requirements of 16 CFR Part 1633-Federal flammability (open flame) standards Limited Warranty: 20 years against manufacturer defects Hypoallergenic, antimicrobial and dust mite resistant This luxurious, health promoting mattress comes with a beautiful silk blend and micro-suede mattress cover Sleep Science Softness Scale – Soft/Medium on one side and Medium on the other Here is the link if you would like to look at all the info - http://www.costco.com/Browse/Productgroup.aspx?Prodid=11496053&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|93|4914|4916&N=4001838&Mo=39&pos=0&No=31&ViewAll=40&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=4916&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC850-Cat4914&topnav= Thanks again for your help! UGH, hold the phone... I think I have the FIRM side up, instead of the soft side up. I had made the assumption about it being soft side up, because the description at costco, and top of this thread clearly states it is delivered soft side up... well, I just went and studied the side of the foam, where I think I can feel the (and see by shining light through it) the layer transitions... WELL, I definitely have a 3" layer on the top, then 4", then couple thinner layers facing down. THAT might explain why Becky is seeing it as squishy and gummy bear feeling, and I'm feeling it so firm I felt the need to put a 1" memory foam topper on... hmmm. Before I sleep on the memory foam, I'm gonna go try to flip the mattress and sleep on the softer side... wish me luck :)

FLIP completed. Definitely a two person job, but this thing is like flipping a waterbed. Softer on this side, but won't know till I try it for a few nights. the 1" memory foam topper is standing by :)

FYI, definitely better with the soft side up, but I would definitely still call it FIRM compared to any pillow top mattress sold lately. I still may add 1" of foam or cover on top, but I'm definitely much happier about the overall feel. Still very supportive. On a Cal King, soft or firm side, I still don't notice much motion transfer from wife's side to my side, and definitely not "gummy bear" or "jiggly". perhaps there really is variation from bed to bed, or with different sizes.

The latex matress is no longer available at Costco.  It sold out, but it might come back later.

Thank you jst4fun you are the man; great detective work.  I just got home from work and did some investigating also and discovered that the latex mattress came delivered FIRM side up as I can see the 1" layer on the bottom and and around a 2" layer above that.  I am going to take the cover off and flip it over with the help of a friend.  I wish I would have known about this earlier before I spent hours of research on a mattress topper to make my wife happy.  Hopefully flipping it will help.  Thanks again.

it has been 2 weeks since we have slept on this costco latex mattress and i agree with most of the evaluations given by jst4fun and keller30.  because of the helpful information given on this forum i also feel obligated to contribute my experiences.  the bed does feel FIRM, but still more comfortable than any other mattress we have had.  i have pain issues with ruptured disc in the spine and other aging infirmities and the support given by this new mattress is excellent.  of course, i don't know how much of the relief of pain can be attributed to some other things i am trying.  suffice to say that we are pleased with our purchase.  we might be even more pleased to find out that the bed can be softer if we flip it over.  but i think it is on the right side.  we don't have the strength to fip the flipping thing around.  i didn't know enough to ask the delivery people to take away the old mattress, so i'm paying a lot more to get rid of it.  our fair city has suspended free pick up services.  for future shoppers, keep studying this forum for great ideas.  thank you, all.

http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/E.C.O.-8-inch-Latex-Twin-size-Mattress/3227638/product.html?keywords=latex%208%20inch%20mattress&searchtype=Header

you mean this product right here?  yeah, the mattress is 8 inches thick, and does contain latex.

but here is their info on it:

ECO latex twin mattress is made from 2-inches of natural latex on 6-inches of high density foam for a comfortable and restful nights sleep.

I cannot find any other latex mattresses on overstock other than this and the 10 inch version which also only contains 2 inches of latex on the base core.

Hi popo: Let me know how this latex mattress is working.  Does it feel soft  - do you go down say 2 inches when you sleep on the mattress? or is it very firm?
Do you sleep on the side? and if you do, do your shoulders hurt when you sleep on latex mattress from costco?

Is the mattress hot?
do you use a mattress pad on it?

thanks popo
