After a lot of research and sitting on mattresses, we settled on a king size pocket coil with 3" talay latex on top with in ILD of 19.  Bought from Gardner mattress in Salem, MA. My wife loves our new bed.  I have been having shoulder and hip pain though.  I have it a few months but it hasn't gotten any better.  If it helps, I'm 5' 8" and about 160lb.  I'm leaning toward a 1" topper and hoping that will help.  Any suggestions on an ILD for that that will help me and not leave the bed too soft for my wife?  Guess i can get two twin size ones of different ILDs but worry about them possibly shifting over time.

Thanks!

E

Thanks for the quick reply.  Definately more of the pressure point/too hard feeling.  Occasional tingling along the arm as well like a pinched nerve sensation.

Well, I'm still learning myself, but from what I've read, it sounds like a 1" topper is the place to start, since you need something softer and more responsive. I believe 14 ILD is the lowest/softest latex goes. Others probably have more first-hand experience and knowledge to offer, but fwiw, that's my off-the-cuff comment!

Good luck - please keep us informed how things work out!

Zoning is another option that might work if you could your side of the mattress zoned and leave your wife's as is. If you want to really learn more, there is a whole lot of great information you will find by reading further in this forum, using the search bar. Post #31 on the link below is a very informative analysis - one of the most intensive analyses I've ever read of mattress technology, if I can call it that.....

Hope this helps!
