Our 9 year old Sealy is about ready to see the door. Any experienced information about this mattress? Reviews on the web appear mixed. We're considering the plush top. |
Thanks for the great information and advice.
We're in MD. Would you be able to recommend specific stores and/or mattresses we might consider instead? The W would have cost us just under $800 for a king. But we could go higher if we found a mattress that wouldn't break down as quickly. |
I would probably go in one of two directions. Either a smaller manufacturer or a very basic innerspring mattress with a topper on top instead of the layers "they" put on top. Have you had a chance to lay on the W hotel mattress? The price you are quoting for a king is less than the prices I've seen for it but IMO it's still not low enough to buy it as a "throwaway. I'm assuming that is mattress only as well. Maryland has one of the fewest number of mattress manufacturers in the US and some of what they have are Sealy and Serta manufacturing outlets. What city are you in and I'll take a look. Some of the manufacturers in other states could be available reasonably close by (Lemoyne for example is available in MD). We're in Bowie. Haven't tried the W , but did see a coupon for 40% off their price on their site. |
Well you sure don't have a lot around you. Mostly chain stores dominated by Sealy, Serta, and Simmons. Here are a few that are close that you probably know about that have some other brands besides these. They might give you something to compare the "S" brands to at least. You could either check these out or use these as "testing grounds" and order online which would open up many options and great value for you. http://www.marylandmattressman.com/showroom.html Englander, IBC http://www.sleephappens.com/html/buy_online/index.cfm Symbol, Spring Air, Corsicana, http://www.mattressdiscounters.com/store/index.asp IBC http://www.mattressmaniaonline.net/cgi-bin/index.pl?page=size&size=King Several alternate brands. You may find some of the best value here http://www.sleepys.com/ Several alternate brands including Pure Latex Bliss which I like. http://www.lemoynesleeper.com/locations.html This is a mattress manufacturer that has some outlets in MD (linked on the website) but not so close to you. They are very good value and are the kind of manufacturer that I try to find. Phoenix This message was modified Dec 5, 2010 by Phoenix
