I thought I'd update this thread from the old forum now that I've received my protector. Soft stretchy protector

We washed the protector in warm water and dried it cool according to the instructions. After one night on it, I can say that I did not notice any crinkle noise as some indicated in the previous thread. With no sheet over it, if one were to wipe his hand accross it, it is a little noisy, because of the slight roughness of the terry top and the polyU beneath it, but after placing sheets over it, there was no more noise than new sheets. It is nice and stretchy, allowing you to feel the mattress under it without the lumpiness of more traditional padded mattress protectors. Over all, a good experience.

Thanks for the info donw.

We have a PAB (Protect-A-Bed) cover and after washing it in hot water a few times, it's nothing short of a circus act trying to get it to fit on the mattress again. It does fit, but it needs to be streteched out with a fair amount of force now that it has shrunk in the wash.

Did you have any of those issues with the ST cover?

D3Fi, I didn't put it on the bed until after I washed it. That said, it was a bear to get on.

I washed my Platinum protector today and put it on.  After it came out of the dryer it looked like there was no way it would stretch enough to cover my mattress, bit it did. I couldn't tell which was the long side and which was the short side, so of course I put it on "sideways" on the first try. It actually "fit", i.e. the 72" width actually stretched enough to fit the 84" length of my mattress. It's a very stretchy material. It also strikes me as being a rather coarse material - it's not pleasant to lay on directly. I don't know if this coarse texture can still be felt through a fitted sheet because my son fell asleep on the bed before I got it made, and I just left him there. That's one problem with the mattress being in the middle of the living room.
