I bought savvy rest because I have multiple sensitivities and thought a 100% natural bed would be best. We bought the bed to be very firm, which it is ( almost impossible for a side sleeper), but the main problem is the odor is so strong, we can barely stand it. It is a strangely sweet smell, and gives both of us a headache. I hope that this smell will go away eventually, because my husband already refuses to sleep in it and all the other beds in the house are too soft for me. We have had it for a week, but the company aired it out at the factory for a week before they sent it to us ( for a fee). In the instruction booklet, it says that if the smell bothers you to let it air out for a day or two. Two weeks later, it is just as bad. I am hoping that a couple of months makes a difference. I am stuck with it one way or another. I should have bought one from a different company that has a return policy. In two months, I will return to this site and review it again. IF it didn't smell, I would give it a higher rating.

I have a Savvy Rest mattress and its the best made, most comfortable mattress I've ever had.

I am GLAD they do not offer mattress returns because for every customer who returns a used mattress, the price of their mattress will likely increase.

SImple math and and a little logic makes my case. If Savvy sells a mattress for $2,400 and 30% of that amount is profit. Then they make $800 per mattress. But if they accept a return, that used mattress cannot by law be resold. Savvy Rest is out $1,600 ($2,400 minus profit of $800). THey now have to sell TWO ADDITIONAL mattressess just to break even from the loss on the returned one (profit of $800 times two mattresses). PLus they must sell one more to regain the lost profit., FOR A TOTAL OF THREE ADDITIONAL MATTRESSES THAT MUST BE SOLD TO OFFSET THE RETURN OF ONE MATTRESS!

Obviously this is not a tenable situation for very long, and would result in price increases for the rest of us, to cover this extra cost from those who would return their mattress.

I prefer it that they don't accept returns. That way I know I'm paying only for the cost of production, not the added cost from picky customers who bought their mattresses sight unseen, and then expect to be able to return a used mattress when they don't like it. Have you ever been able to return clothing that' you wore for a week or so? No. Can you return sheets you've slept on for a month? No. Why do you expect that you should be able to return a mattress you have slept on. The costs of returns to the producer are enormous because the item cannot be resold. It is a total loss for the producer and a smaller loss for us who must now pay more for our mattresses.

Before you jump into latex mattress, be aware of what you are getting into. My take is this. If you are not particular with mattress type and firmness, then you probably can get easy fit with latex mattress. And go for it for the less chemical in the latex material. On the other hand, if you have back issue and have problems with other mattress types (springs, memory foam, etc), then you will likely find the same issue with latex. You can customize the latex firmness to fit your liking. But the problem is that most latex mattress sellers (like Sleep EZ) are online and next to impossible to test out in person. So if you cannot try out the latex mattress before you buy, make sure you can swap out or return.

I purchased Sleep EZ 10000 in Queen size last year June 2011.

Sleep EZ has 90 days swap out and also return policy. It took me more than 90 days to get the custom fit right. Good thing they were not strict on the 90 days.

Sleep EZ only allows one swap at a time. This seems like a reasonable rule, but I found this doesn't work for me. The reason is that there are 3 layers to 10000, and all 3 layers work together to provide the final firmness. So by switching only 1 layer at a time, I cannot tell the final firmness and fit. In the end, I did 6+ swap outs. And I ended up getting one of the layer that I had returned previously. If Sleep EZ allowed more than one swap at a time, I probably would have needed less swap outs to find the final firmness to my liking. This would have reduce the cost on swap out, both for Sleep EZ and me.

I am 5'10" 175 lbs. I prefer firmer mattress. I was able to try out Savvy Rest at a local store. And I used online fit selector at flobeds plus talked to Shawn (SleepEZ) over the phone. I started with firm dunlop at bottom, firm dunlop for middle, and medium talalay blend on top. After trial and error with the dunlop and talalay, I find that talalay blend is not right for me. Then I had to determine the firmness with dunlop. I ended up with a much firmer setup: x-firm dunlop at bottom, firm dunlop at middle and top.

The starting point was way off in my case. There is no way to duplicate the Savvy Rest setup with Sleep EZ, because the feel/firmness are not the same. Shawn is very friendly and tries to help, but there is no way for him to identify the right firmness for my personal fit over the phone. Getting the right fit is pain in the ass (or liternally pain in the back). After switching the layers on my bed or swapping out new layers, my back ached for a week. I had to wait to make sure the back pain is not due to sleeping on mattress but due to the handling.

Lastly, I can feel the seam down the middle of the mattress for the split, even with 1" mattress cover padding. Well, if I lie down on the mattress, it compresses. And as I sleep in the middle of queen bed, the side where I put more weight on will be compress more than the 2nd side. And when I turn, sometimes I get this falling feeling as the compression and support between the 2 splits changes. So I ended up going to single piece without split for the top. Obviously this limits the firmness customization for 2 sleepers.
