I cut open my S&F luxury innerspring mattress when it developed severe depressions. I found the padded mattress cover was one of the biggest problems. I took out a few layers and added a 2" latex topper. It was much better, but over time the depressions got worse. Eventually I took out all of...
I just bought an innerspring mattress for a pull down bed (Murphy) that we use for guests. It will only be lightly used so I didn't want to buy a high end mattress.. The bed build using the "create-a-bed" mechanism requires that the mattress be less than 12" tall.
At one time I had a latex...
I did surgery on a S&F from about the same time that developed massive depressions (although still 30% away from what the manufacturer considered defective). I found that the quilted pillowtop cover was the biggest reason for the depressions. I had planned on keeping it. The eggcrate foam was...
When I was in my late 20's I made the change to sleeping on my back, but now that I'm older my wife insists that I sleep on my side so I don't snore -- and I don't blame her.
Personally, I would go for Talalay - preferrably Latex international. Ratings are not the same between manufacturers, let alone between types of latex. Use them as a guide not an absolute.
If you have a bad back, you probably want a firmer bed with just a top 1" of softer material to get the...
Other than during the initial 30-90 testing period, my experience is that the warrantee is worthless even with top of the line manufactureres. The standard for what they consider defective is so extreme that you would have given up sleeping on the mattress long before it gets bad enough for them...
I bought from Foambymail before, but probably wouldn't do it again for my main bed. It seems like it became softer than I expected with light use.
I believe that anyone who sells "Latex International" foam going to be good.
I just used a full waterproof/breathable mattress cover that had a zip...
I ended up putting it on a plywood base over wooden slats because this is for a kid twin bed and I expect there to be jumping on the mattress. I put the mattress inside a waterproof/breathable full mattress cover which I think will prevent any moisture problems.
I found a posting that said...
I bought a low end "Luxury Firm" mattress from them for a guest bed. It quickly became too hard and inconsistent springiness for comfortable sleeping. It might have become acceptable if we'd added a latex topper. I cut it open before tossing it and it had almost no comfort layers on top.
As I...
I'm going to put a latex mattress in a twin bed that was made for a traditional mattress. Since it currently only has 4 slats I'm thinking of putting 3/4" plywood on top of the existing slats to support the latex.
Is there any value in drilling 1" holes in the plywood to create some air flow...
Yes, I think you need center support on a queen size bed. It was a warranty requirement for my mattress. The longer you wait, the more damage you will be doing to your mattress. You might be able to improve your current frame if you are handy/inventive.
I weight 170. Underneath is a S&F intellicoil along with foam layer to protect the springs and a zoned piece of memory foam. I did a mattress surgery which I consider very successful. I plan to make a complete post of the process in the next couple of weeks when I have time.
I got the 2" blended talalay in #28. No seams in my queen size topper. The 28 feels springy, but supportive and not unbearably hard. If feels great sleeping on my back. A bit less so on my side. It is very easy to turn from one position to another (unlike memory foam). I'm going to add...
Update: I received the topper on 5/19. This was sooner than they estimated and 15 days from when I placed the order. Not great, but acceptable to me.
The topper was packed well and the box arrived in good condition. The topper was the right size and looked pristine, except for the numerous...
The County will pick up mattresses in our area if you call a special phone number for pickup.
I didn't want the mattress sitting on the curb for a week or two, so I cut up the last full size mattresses I tossed. It's a messy job. Lot's of lint, etc fluffing off. I used bolt cutters to cut...
My shoulder pressure points are much less on our medium soft latex guest bed, than on our conventional master bed. Also, make sure your pillow is firm/high enough to properly align your spine if you're sleeping on your side.
In what position do you sleep? I find our latex guest bed is fine for me when I sleep on my side, but too soft if I try to sleep on my stomach.
I thought lower back pain was usually aggravated by a bed that is too soft, not too firm. Pain in shoulders and hips is from too firm. But I'm...

You still can, can't you?
If they haven't shipped, you can cancel your order. If they balk, just have your credit card company cancel the charge.
Yes, I could. I don't expect they would give me a hard time about it. But I've decided to stick with them since I've already lost this...
I know Amazon has us all spoiled, but I ordered a latex topper from SLAB last week and they sent me an email today saying the topper is expected to ship on 5/18. If they'd told me at the time I placed the order that it was out of stock I probably would have ordered elsewhere.
