Froli

Froli is a (plastic, poly, synthetic...?) spring system that is adjustable. We just assembled it on the boat today and layed a sheet of cardboard over it and layed ourselves down. Amazing! What we bought was an amount sufficient for a queen bed, about $400. Although our bed is more of a trapazoid. Well, a queen trapaziod. We're not connected in any way with the seller except as having purchased our own. http://nickleatlantic.com/. We are planning on three layers of 2" blended Talalay, divided down the middle, for a total of six "elements" in the bed. This is necessary because of needing to access steering equipment below the bed.
So if you're a student on the move (or a boater) consider this: a Froli on the floor and one or two "somethings" on top.

Initial results are in after two nights on the new bed. For the latex part we chose SleepLikeABear queen 1" of Celsion 15 ILD, 1" Celsion of 21 ILD, 2" of Talatech 28 ILD, 2" of Talatech 36 ILD. And on the bottom the Froli Star system set up on closest positioning. On my side I used less resistive (light blue) squares on my shoulder and hip areas. Also in the lumbar area I put on a row of extra firming bands (red). Result: we both enjoyed our sleep, awoke feeling comfortable. On the second night I was looking forward to going to bed, which is a change.
As this bed is in a boat our overhead clearance is about, maybe, 36". So we limited our purchase to 6" of latex. When we lay in any position we are very comfortable. But, when we kneel or sit on it we do touch bottom. Laying in any position we do not touch bottom. So we will continue to sleep on this current 6" and possibly add 1" or 2" of Talatech 40 or 44 ILD later.
We plan to cut the bed down the middle and bag the pieces. This will enable us to access the hydraulics and steering gear under the bed.

We decided to try adding 1" Taltech 44 ILD at the bottom of the stack. This makes our mattress be 7" + ~1-3/4" of Froli. Quite a difference! That 1" of 44 changes the feel from sleeping on a cloud to, well, the best mattress we've ever slept on. When kneeling, bottoming still happens but less so. When sitting we don't notice the bottom with our bottoms. The Froli zones are still discernable. I've got my side set softer in shoulders and hips. We also put a mattress pad over the whole stack and did loose some of that delicious top layer softness. If in going to the tropics we find that we'd rather be sleeping with less contact to the mattress, we can bring up to the top one of the firmer layers.
