Good article on chair ergonomics, particularly where it explains the seat should have a waterfall seat, i.e. the thighs are lower than the hips. This is the reason my expensive chair hurts, my thighs are higher than the hips, pain!!!
click here for article. Ignore the picture because that seat has contoured seat!!! Bad
Will there soon be a whatsthebest-
chair.com forum??
Too bad there are no (that I know of) chair sellers who offer a trial like they do with beds. I wonder why not? They surely couldn't get more returns than mattress co's do! Does CostCo sell furniture with a return/exchange policy? I don't usually shop there so don't know...
Does anyone know if these "truths" about chairs (thighs lower than hips, etc.) are really true or is it just another theory designed to sell certain types of chairs? I'm not saying it is not true, I am just wondering because I really don't know.
It's been years since I sat in any chair that didn't hurt my back after a half hour or so...
But standing hurts my back too!
So does laying...
(or is it lying? I never could keep that lay/lie thing straight...)
Anyway, thanks for this info. I can't afford to spend much on a chair right now but some day soon I want to do a bunch of research and see if I can find an affordable chair that might work for me. Right now I'm thinking about just buying an old fashioned rocking chair and putting my own HR foam on the back and bottom, then using a footstool of the right height...
