I did not order the foundation. I had a king box spring already so there was no need to order the foundation. As far as looking mismatched, I'm not sure even theirs match, but I could be wrong. The side portion of the mattress cover looks like a tan suede material with no quilting or pattern at all. I would be curious to see a closer picture, since the one on the costco site really doesn't look like it matches all that well.

As far as the delivery service goes, that is contracted with various delivery companies. Mine came from a local moving and storage company, and was delivered with no problems. Why they would fold it is beyond me. I would not allow them to do that for fear they could damage the mattress. My delivery company carried it into my home in the box, and once they were in my bedroom they removed the packaging. These other guys sound like a bunch of morons. It's unfortunate for costco that they have to take the hit for someone else's imcompetence.

I left it on the softer side and love it this way. It still feels fairly firm. I have always had problems with mattresses making my hips and shoulders hurt and fall asleep, hence, waking up several times in a night to roll to a different position. I can lay in one position for hours and have no discomfort, in fact the only time I usually wake up is if the Pee Gods come calling in the middle of the night. I do suffer from occasional lower back pain and have not had any since sleeping on this. The only negative was having to wait a couple of days before we could sleep on it to get rid of the smell. It had quite a strong odor of what reminded me of contact cement, but it almost completely went away after the 2nd day, and honestly that is my only complaint.

I tried to post some pictures but could not figure out how to do it.

thanks for feedback, i dont have a ship date yet (ordered 13 days ago, this is taking forever) but I was going to flip it and use the firmer side from day one, maybe i shouldnt...i can always flip it later

i am use to the smell from foam, hopefully latex isnt worse...

Hey Jason, what mattress is that odd looking gray latex used in? Ive seen many different samples of synthetic latex and they are all white.

becky, did they mention who actually manufactures sleep science's latex in these mattresses?

I just called customer service and they informed me it is manufactured in Thailand by Latex Systems. Does anyone know if this is a reputable company?

I don't think I have posted on this yet.
Anyway, I think this sounds like a really great latex mattress for the price. I like the fact that it can be adjusted by turning it over, and I like the fact that it has CostCo's return guarantee (I assume).

As to Natural latex, I have never slept on it, but I once layed on one and I liked the feel of it better than Talalay (and yes it was "jungle" latex, from some 3rd World country, perhaps the same as this one).

I think you can't go wrong with this bed if you can return it for zero or minimal charge.

Am interested to see how you like it. I wish they'd sell some toppers of this material at those cut rate prices!

I’ve been a lurker here for a couple months since we started looking for a king mattress. We decided to go for this Costco Latex Mattress. I was planning on waiting to post after we’ve slept on it a few nights, but I know the Costco discount ends on Sunday night.

Order placed 12/7, order shipped 12/14, delivery to house this morning on 1/2.

We read the only Costco review and they had problems with the delivery. Based on their experience of the guys snagging and tearing the mattress, we asked if they could leave the mattress in the box until it was in our upstairs bedroom. Reluctantly, they obliged. This thing was heavy and unwieldy. My wife really thinks one of the gentlemen delivering this king sized beast might have soiled himself getting this thing up the stairs.

We have a 3” LI Talalay 100% natural topper for my 2 yr old daughter’s bed and I’d say this is a vastly different feel. We got it from FoamSweetFoam. The ILD for the “medium” topper was claimed to be 24-28. For starters this Dunlop mattress is much denser and although the Costco site says the softest part is a 19 ILD, the Talalay seems much softer and springier. I think the Costco mattress is much firmer than the Talalay topper.

We ultimately decided to buy the foundation, which I’m happy we did. It’s actually pretty beefy and will be a much more solid foundation than a box spring in my opinion. It’s constructed of 1” square steel. Yes, the plastic “cardboard” that covers the foundation does seem cheap, but I think it serves its purpose in evenly distributing the load across the steel foundation.
Assuming we sleep well tonight, I intend to get the twin set for my 4 yr old son.

Guess I waited too long to make a decision...looks like only the twin sizes are left. I'll have to wait for the next sale, though I'd definitely be interested in any short or long-term reviews in the meantime.

so???? how did you sleep?

I am noticing that my arms are going to sleep on me on my tempupedic...what a shame cuz when you lie down on this baby it is extremely comfy

Ordered mine just before the sale ended. Hopefully receive ship notice soon.
Can anyone provide the total HEIGHT of the foundation AND mattress? link doesn't seem to be available on costco site.
And Randy, were you saying your arm is falling asleep with the new latex mattress or only with the tempur?
I'm sure hoping this works, my next option is to try a Tempur Classic or the 14" Celeste from Costco
BTW, any recommendation on a good mattress cover for this? I assume we want water resistant and thin.
thanks!

Total height is around 23".

We like it a lot. It is much firmer than you ILDs would leave you to believe, but we like it that way. We actually ordered the twin version and foundation as well on the last day of the sale. At the time that was the only one left.
Magically, all sizes were in stock after the sale was over!

ugh. does the 23" total height include legs on the foundation or something? I was assuming 10" mattress + ~8" foundation. 23" would be WAY too high on my wooden sleigh bed frame. hoping it is not that tall, but if it is... does anyone have a low profile foundation to recommend? or have experience trying to return just the foundation part of a mattress order to costco? thanks in advance!

I am not seeing them on the website at all now. Just the memory foam mattresses.

Don't worry, the 23" includes the legs. Sorry about that. The legs are removable. Just the foundation and mattress are 18".

perfect, thanks! (18" high will be just right). FYI to others, I placed the order on Jan 2, early sunday morning, and my order says "sent to fulfillment", but I have not heard anything else yet.

:( Just got an email from costco... "Thank you for ordering the NATRL CMFRT QUEEN *PROMO* (Item #481909) from Costco.com. Due to the overwhelming response for this item, there has been a delay in fulfilling your order. We expect new inventory the first week of March 2010. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you are willing to wait for this item, you do not need to do anything. If this delay is unacceptable, you may cancel this order by responding to this email. We value you as a customer and appreciate your business. it is happening with the bellafina tempurpedic...cant remember if it happened with the costco/sleep science foam mattress or not...back is killing me, everyday...new bed should be here next week

I got the bed. Its made in China. It doesn't smell. It's very soft. I've slept on it 3 nights, and slept pretty good, but I'm returning it because it is not firm enough. Too bad.

I was suppose to get my bed yesterday but wrong house, wrong mattress. I am so grateful for this forum, I would be lost w/o it and still thinking I'm as crazy as my kids try and tell me I am. I am worried about this bed and am curious about the last reply. Did you flip it or start on the med side to begin with? How much do you weigh? What kind of bed did you sleep on before? What's next for you? I spent an hour on a NexGel mattress yesterday but decided to wait for Costco's mattress. I have been paying attention to everything and I really felt I WAS bottoming out on the NexGel. I have been off the Sleep Number for two nights and feel much better. I'm back on my $250 Areo bed with a 3 inch memory topper. This has been working for me for years BUT I have to replace the bed and the foam every few years. So far they allow me to trade it at Bed Bath and Beyond when it goes "bad". I have a real problem with the sweat pooling between the air bed and foam which causes it to mold. I keep a towel between the bed and the foam but its super wet every moring and it I don't take the whole thing apart to dry I get screwed really quick. Of course I am the only one who can sleep on this bed, two just doesn't work. I weigh 290.
I am thinking, the more I read on here, that I may just build my own bed frame and work with my pricy Areo bed. It has worked for me for years. Some how I am going to find a way to keep it dry! I have tried wool, feathers, you name it, I've tried it. I really get a kick out of all the mattress surgery I read about on here. I have been sharing with my kids, all these posts, and now I don't sound so crazy any more.
I want to thank all the people who take the time to write! Thank you, thank you, thank you! This experience has been greatly aided by your posts.

Engra: you mention that the bed is much firmer than the ILDs suggest. Are you referring to the soft side up or did you flip it so that the firm side is up? I visited the South Bay International office in Pomona 2 mos ago and tried the latex bed and the various memory foam beds as well. I thought the latex (demo was soft side up) was not firm enough but there was no flip side available for comparison; to me the soft side up is similar to the medium softness memory foam mattresses. My recollection of the various memory foam beds is imperfect but I believe the Celeste was firmer than the Ara but also a little springier due to the 2" layer of latex. Both were comfortable. The springiness was the biggest difference. The latex and memory foam chemicals are, according to the company rep, sourced outside of China but South Bay owns a 700,000 sq foot manufacturing plant in China (website www.southbayinternational.com) where raw products are sent for manufacture. I, too, noticed that all the latex bed sizes appeared on the Costco site the day after the sale ended. However, the next day the whole latex line disappeared. The company phone agent said that no additonal orders were being taken to avoid back ordering. She also mentioned that the memory foam Emma bed is going on sale next month (Feb); that may or may not be accurate. I decided to wait until several user reviews appeared on the Costco site, or here, about the all latex bed before ordering. So please post your experience if you've slept on it (and which side of it you like the best).
