I ordered from foamorder once.  I would buy from them again.

Unless you are a side sleeper, your idea of what you are buying will probably not work well for a bad back.

What is your primary sleeping position?

I own both the natural latex and the blended latex.  In my opinion, the blended is a superior product.

FWIW...

I have the Nordic model with added pillowtop on the european adjustable slats.  I found that it was incredibly warm and way too  firm for me.  Being a neophyte at the time, I did not realize that I could return it.  By the time I found out, it was too late so a family member is now using it.  I have read that some people have had trouble with European Sleep Works when they want to return or exchange.  If you call and try to get some technical specs on the springs and latex, they won't give you a straight answer.  There is a review here on them and you might also check yelp.

I have visited Bay Bed and while their products seemed of high quality, I didn't like the zippered covers.  They were too thick and hard for my liking.  If you are in northern California you should also...

Are you referring to Bay Bed and Mattress in Santa Cruz? http://www.baybed.com/

This is where I bought our two XL long twin mattresses and we love them. Inside an Eastern King frame pushed together. I'm not sure what you mean by the zippered mattress covers being too thick and hard. Did you try them all? Some have a softer fabric. The one I chose is just like a cover you would see on a readymade mattress. It's got some filling in the quilted top and the zipper is of industrial quality. Durable and just the right amount of "plush". The fire resistant felt edging is built into the cover. We've been very pleased with our mattresses and it's been almost 3 years. Earlier on I did a lot of "tweaking" to get the inside layers "just right". It wasn't always perfect. It's after I found...

I have a latex bed by Natura, and I would never sleep on anything else!

This has to be the most comfortable bed we have ever had! I no longer wake up with sore hips or backache. Even my husband, who has a really bad back, complains of less stiffness than on our old bed.

We have now had our bed for two years and we would never go back to pocket coils. This has been one of best investments and I can highly recommend spending the extra for the most amazing comfort, plus we find, since sleeping on it, both of us have seen allergy improvements....

I mainly sleep on my back, but sometimes sleep on my side.  Can you tell me why do you think the configuration that I was thinking of won't be a good fit for a bad back?  Will it be too soft or hard?

Also, did you get the blended latex from foamorder?  Also, why do you think that is better?

As I am sure you are aware, the natural latex from foamorder is made using the Dunlop method.

Thanks for all your help!!!...

My hubby and I have researched like crazy -

We are buying a California King bed.

We are getting latex because of chemical issues

We thought of going the route of DYI but decided against it; FBM glues the additional "length" on... this defeats the non-chemical/all natural reason for buying a latex bed.

I looked at Sleepez, looked at all of the Natural, organic bed stores.  Decided on Rocky Mountain Mattress.  They offer a 6" core with a 2" layer in an organic cotton casing for an excellent price.  Our Core is a Firm and our second layer is Medium.  My hubby is rather tall and large and I am small and medium :)   I bought the mattress only because once I researched foundations I found that most of the stores are selling the...

Re: Can anyone tell me how a convoluted latex topper differs from a regular latex topper of the same ILD? - egganddart49

I'm not an expert, but I experimented with a Flobeds mattress by rearranging various combinations of latex pads. I thought I'd like the latex, and I really want a natural material, but I couldn't get one that felt just right. What I think I want is a firm foundation, with a plush, giving layer on top. I pulled out my old futon which, on its own, is like sleeping on concrete! I put different latex pads on top of it, thinking I might just go with a topper over the futon. I found all the 3" pads to feel too bouncy for my taste, regardless of their ILDs. It seems to be the nature of the 100% natural latex. I tried one of their convoluted pads, but it wasn't enough cushioning. What I did like was two convoluted pads with their molded surfaces facing each other. over the futon....
Sears-O-Pedic Comfort Cloud Iridescent LX equivalent? - newtonewyork

Hi all! I'm new to the forum and hoping to get some great mattress advice. I'm moving to NY from the west coast and am shopping for a new mattress. My mattress set (mattress+box spring) in California was a full Sears-o-pedic Comfort Cloud Iridescent LX II Firm (I believe this is the name, unfortunately I'm no longer in California and can't verify). The mattress description was similar to this:

  • Marvelux® Foam Exquisite foam that provides an extra level of cushioning to create a firm, yet luxurious feel
  • Two layers of Sears-O-Pedic SuperSoft Foam Soft, high density foam that cushions and conforms to your body to provide a plush, luxurious feel
  • Resilium A marvelous resilient fiber that offers the loft, softness and breathability of cotton but bounces back to retain its plumpness, shape and support for longer Comfort Life™
  • DuraFiber™ Extra Pad Super-firm blend of natural and synthetic...

Small world for sure. We have friends in Coles Crossing but we live near Jones & Grant.  Thanks for the tip on the latex pillows. I would love to try them out! I think pillows are pretty important too and I'm picky about mine since my neck can hurt on the wrong pillow.

We too have become very jaded about the S brands due to our current situation and it sure sounds like we are not alone.  I am very intrigued about the latex beds for many reasons...the natural aspect, being hypoallergenic, not having as many chemicals etc. We both have allergies so that is a concern as well. I am going to read through and see what all you've used to build your bed.  Sounds like you are very happy with the outcome. That is a pretty big testament that your parents loved it so much with ole Ike approaching....
