Re: Verlo Mattress, are they good or bad? HELP - cloud9

Lynn, I couldn't agree more. I think all mattresses should have a zippered top and components that can be swapped out and customized like the latex mattress kits from Flobeds and SleepEZ or the wonderful hybrid mattress BeddyBye got from a local merchant....

Thank you all so much for the help. We ordered our bed last night and it is going to be delivered on tuesday. I can believe they are going to make it  on monday. They custom make each one. We had them make it a little firmer so they are going to at no charge. We got the King Canterbury it is 2 sided with 3" of latex foam on each side. It sounds great. There is a 15 year guarantee on the set. and I asked if any thing voids that out or how they handel problems and they actually pick it up, fix it and return it the same day. for free. Nothing voids that out either for 15 years. They said they use a 13 gage coil the best you can get they told me. We are so excited I cant wait to go to bed on...

Runerroad, I saw you post on epinion.com from Mar 14, 08. . . it's below.  Are you a salesman? (naughty naughty!)

This is a great mattress set. We got a king size set. This was our first mattress from verlo. Our last one was a Simmons and it was a no flip set by 6 months we had 2 people size holes in the mattress and they came to look at it and told us there was nothing they could do. That was a $1200 mistake. Now that we have our verlo we have no problems. It is so nice to flip our bed and keep it flat. The sales man was very smart and knew his product well. Every thing we great. I will never own another mattress set from any one else. I am getting my kids beds there once we get our tax return...

I'm sorry if this has been answered already...

If i liked a latex mattress at one store, say, Verlo, can i duplicate that mattress by ordering layers from FBM? Am i able to find out the ILD from Verlo, or is that something i can't really find out and duplicate?

Thanks so much!!--

Thinking about ordering from FBM - electracat

I think i have to get a latex mattress, if i want NO motion transfer, so...

i looked at a latex mattress made by Verlo, which felt good (firm core, medium/soft topper), but it's $2000.

Then i thought again about FBM...So inexpensive! Can it be as good as other latex mattresses?

Wondering if a 6" firm core and 2" topper will be good for me? I'm 5'4'', 120lbs, boyfriend is 5'11", 165. He doesn't care what he sleeps on, but i do want it to be supportive enough.

Is there ANY Reason to go with a pre-made mattress (i.e. from Verlo)?

Thank you so much!!...
Innerspring advice, anyone in Denver??? - nikkim

Have been pouring over the postings on this forum for days, researching what to do about replacing my mattress. Thanks to all of you for an incredible amount of info and personal experience! I will try to keep this as brief as possible...

I currently have a 3½ YO Stearns & Foster "Silver Dream" (expensive, huge pillowtop) that is killing me. I have multiple disc & SI issues & doing my best to avoid surgery. My bed isn't helping me one bit. I tried a memory foam bed...husband hated it & it didn't really help me much, so it went back. I'm 5'7" & 135 lbs & husband is 5'10" & 165 lbs. We are both primarily side sleepers. I try to stay off my stomach as much as possible.

After all my research here, I have decided to go w/ the best innerspring I can buy w/ the least amount of junk...

The wife and I drove past a Verlo mattress outlet today and didn't even realize it was there.  This place is about three minutes away from my house and it took my 6 year old son to figure out that we need to stop there.  He was the one that pointed it out.

Anyways, I stopped in and I think found the perfect mattress.  It was quite firm but the salesman said that that is the most firm build that they made for the showroom and he could make it a bit softer by adding a layer of latex.  Does anyone have any experience with this brand?  The factory is locate (made in wisconsin) and it seems to be a factory direct store.  The prices are pretty reasonable as well.

Thanks,

Gene....

I think you reach a point of diminishing returns flipping an innerspring mattress cause the springs/coils compress and flatten and show sag whether on the "A" side up or the "B" side up.

Sounds like your plan is to get an innerspring mattress without a built-on topper and then adding your own topper layers.  If your latex core with foam/latex toppers is too hard in some sleep positions and too soft in other sleep positions you have a difficult problem to solve cause you want firmness sometimes and softness otherwise.

It took several firmness adjustments before my bride and I found the perfect firmness for our waterbed mattress or "core" with our three inch foam topper on top.  We think that ability to adjust firmness is a very important feature that most overlook cause most mattresses cannot be adjusted!

Maybe you should try an air bed or waterbed as both allow easy adjustment...

I was doing some research and saw that Verlo makes a latex core memory foam mattress, but this forum seems to rip them except for the spammers.  I was going to go try that mattress ($1400) for the mattress alone, until I read the responses.  I am hesitant to build my own as my wife wants some form of a warranty.

I will keep posting...

The freebie waterbed-with-tubes experiment is over, as I passed the thing on to another family.

"Air means no weight. Air means no heater. Air means easy add and subtract for firmness."

Those are the reasons for my asking about air in the WB mattress.
I do fall in between the 200 to 300 weight range. Unfortunately on the shady side of 250.

My research of air beds has found some starting to skimp on the depth of the air bladders. If they are making it up with foam, I may as well buy a bed made out of foam.

Imjay, I am a cheerleader for waterbeds from past experience. Why I don't just go buy one now is this: 20 years ago these old joints and muscles were a lot less prone to pain. I am a side sleeper exclusively.  Hip pain, and shoulder pain are my bed partners now.
